I was watching a clip from the Heartland Championship where a restart got caught in a gust of wind and was blown directly back towards the restarters' try line and it bounced all the way dead past the posts and try area. What the hell would a referee do in this case? 22 drop? scrum at halfway? just another restart?

Believe it or not, there is a specific law that covers this situation

[TEXTAREA]13.9 BALL GOES INTO THE IN-GOAL
(d) If the ball does not travel ten metres and ends up in the kicking team’s in-goal and:

• it is made dead by a defending player, or
• the ball goes into touch in goal, or
• lands on or over the dead ball line;

a 5-metre scrum is awarded and the attacking team throw in.[/TEXTAREA]

This is simply a case of the ball being taken or put into teams own in-goal and made or went dead!

im guessing they would have to do that as thats what the rules state haha

sorry i meant laws, before someone assassinates me

Darned right too, Rules are made to be broken, Laws are made to be obeyed!!

Honestly that surprises me. Would have said scrum on half way as it wasn't intentional.

In theory that is correct but look at the number of people who use mobiles while driving, people slowing down and then accelerating at speed cameras, cyclists at red lights, one way streets, pavements etc etc etc

There was a time when laws were respected and obeyed but with the introduction of far too many unenforceable laws, they have become rules!!!
