[RWC19 Warm-Up] - Wales vs England

Don't think anything has been learnt from these two games.
Wales 1st XV is slightly stronger than England 1st XV.
England Squad is stronger than Wales.
Biggar can kick.
1/2p can kick farther.
England look better with a true openside.

Maybe it's good to know that Wales can revert back to the kicking game if required, but have to ask would we have to if we hadn't played these warmups and got the more creative players injured?

You think they are the best team in the world?
Wales are.

If you disagree with the rankings system, start a thread discussing how it's flawed or whatever it is you want to say.

By the official systems we have Wales are now #1, for the first time in history? That's an achievement anyone should applaud. Doesn't mean Wales will win the World Cup but credit where it's due.

Nah no credit both teams were **** today. Wales slightly edged it but it wasn't a pretty limp way to go to number especially after last week as well.

Can't be arsed arguing about the nonsence that is world rankings.

So every time England play Wales in Cardiff the Wales online lot make a huge story about England being cowards and afraid to face the hostile crowd with the roof closed. Now Jones has said let's close the roof so of course now the Wales Online crowd are saying how dare he say the roof should be closed, keep it open. You couldn't make it up. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/eddie-jones-asks-wales-close-16754170
Strange though it might sound, I'm actually reasonably pleased with that. Apart from Youngs' occasional strange decision I can't really think of any shocking play... Itoje still giving away too many penalties for my liking though.

Look at the positives; apart from a very controversial play, Wales rarely looked threatening. England made several good breaks.

Coka wasn't his usual rollicking self, though, and Ford's kicks from hand were a bit aimless.

Main complaints are the usuals; discipline.

Also, there were three times where Youngs could have got decent ball from a mail, chose not to, and we lost it.
Something like that happens once, well, them's the breaks. But three times shows something's going on and you're not paying attention. Given that the counterplay is passing (i.e. his job) I'm a bit annoyed about that.

PLEASED ??????? ABSOLUTE CRAP !
Come on lets wake up and smell the coffee.
2003 - The RFU, Clive Woodward and the England team inflict the biggest humiliation on Eddie Jones's career.
What do the RFU go and do - EMPLOY HIM
What do you think he will do for England ???????
He has taken them backwards, their discipline is probably the worst in international rugby.
We never seem to have a plan B
He didn't want the RFU to try and attract Shaun Edwards, wonder why !!
When things aren't going our way we tend to run around like chickens with our heads cut off
giving away penalties.
I say, sacrifice the world cup and get shot of the aussie, he's laughing all the way to the bank and taking the ****.

He will ultimately get his satisfaction when we get booted out of the RWC in the early stages !!!

Trev

I don't disagree with the use of the system, but it's literally just the result of a mathematical formula.

You've really got to be quite undiscerning if you take it to be definitive.

@bushytop I agree with the general sentiment of your last posts but be wary of confusing discussion of a contentious call which to be fair, is pretty much unheard of at the top level and the situation was almost entirely made by officials and non-player influence. A worthy discussion point in a by and large unremarkable match.

I agree... and pardon my ‘trigger’ but it does wind me up when mob mentality justifies behaviour. I’ll happily take a bit of flak if it’s funny but the sentiment I get from this thread is ‘any chance to cast shade at Wales’.

@noah_jo you can add that 23 to the other 2.5 million (or whatever the figure is) because you’ve never got anything positive to say about us, which says more about you!

Na I like Nigel Owens DW xx

(Also have never commented on the wider Welsh public who I'm sure are exemplary and upstanding citizens)
Love you all lots

By the laws they should have been called back

As long as the referee restarts play they can go. I didn’t watch so I have no idea if that happened. In sevens they often don’t even wait for the restart they just let them tap as soon as the cards shown.
A defending player shown a card shouldn’t be able to slow down the attacking teams tactical options by loitering off the field.
Do you have a specific law?

So first it went to to TMO review, this the ball was dead which apparently means a quick tap can't be taken.

England were also carrying out a substitution due to HIA of which the replacement player had not entered the field.
