Should the World Cup be expanded to 24 teams?

Need to get rid of these 5 team pools which create lopsided gaps between games and see USA putting out their B team against South Africa because they are targeting a game 3 days later.

24 team, 6 groups of 4, with a round of 16. Which is the same number of games as the current format for the finalists. (Same format as FIFA 86 and 90 world cups)

Anything between 16 teams and 32 teams is a compromised format, but 24 is less compromised than 20, and means we get to the balanced 32 team format quicker.

Although one of my previous comments would appear to disagree with this... I like your argument.

Good news for RWC expansion. I never realised that there were plans to contract at one time, that would have killed the game in smaller countries.

Completely bogus. This will add more meaningless games and dilute the test game even further.

We'll soon be going into another RWC involving 20 teams and realistically there's just about 4 serious contenders. And ONE overwhelming favourite. Outside of those the rest are there for the parade. The real issue is what is WR doing about it?

Letting the PI nations go bust and keeping the 6N doors closed is stupid. Expand comps likes the 6 Nations and RC first. WR need to address the current decline which is global and also affect Tier 1 nations.

How about providing the resources and platform for developing Tier 2 and Tier 3 before expanding?
