I will also say, the Boks have played quite badly as well. The ball is greasy, but the amount of unforced errors & ill discipline has been very high from them.

The structure and confidence of the attack was poor even against Fiji, most of the tries have been from broken play or a maul. Whatever Wales are talking about in training, it’s isn’t happening in games and it’s showing against the very best.

Pondering today, I think, for me, that the greatest indictment of Welsh rugby perilous state is the Fiji test match & the attendance & general apathy surrounding it.
I get there are reasons behind this, but compare & contrast with the tests in Liverpool & Edinburgh, the difference was stark.
Wales has massive problems from grass roots upwards, but when it reflects in such a way as this, it is more concerning that today’s result.
The question is can it be fixed? To a point I think it can, but I am not sure it means to a point where Wales are breaking into the top 6. But through the current crop & some of the U20’s coming through, I certainly think getting to around 6-7th in the world is possible.

I wouldn’t read too much into that Fiji attendance and maybe consider the November internationals a better barometer.

Cardiff city stadium just doesn’t work for rugby, there’s nothing around it, transport links are crap and Wales fans are used to being spoiled with the principality stadium and the amazing rugby city centre experience. The whole experience makes the ticket price worth it and the CCS would have always flopped in my view. Linked the lack of marketing it shouldn’t be a surprise

What’s crazy is if you watch Welsh grassroots rugby, you’ll be shocked. I genuinely think a lot of our local sides could outplay our national team. Yes fitness and strength / power can’t be questioned as they are full time athletes. But talent wise, we can offer so much more.

We’ve got a lot of great players in Wales. Admittedly players that aren’t going to mix it with the top 4 anytime soon but Carre, Lake, Jenkins, Morgan, Wainwright, (I’m convinced Kane James), Tomos Williams, James, LRZ are all very good rugby players and we’re nowhere near getting the best out of this group.

At the end of the day, the WRU ignored me when I said Dave Rennie or Jamie Joseph or Pat Lam. We’ve got Tandy who’s basically never been a head coach before let alone at international level, we’ve got a defence coach who has North ******* Dorset on his CV, Matt Sherratt who’s a glorified PE coach and a whole load of other completely inexperienced coaches like Lydiate and what not. I mean, why not, just give anyone the job.
