Newcastle Falcons supporters have voted in their droves for the player of the season award, with Aussie fullback Matthew Burke being the overwhelming choice.
Around 5,000 fans voted in the club’s online poll, with the vote counting as a quarter of the total in deciding the overall player of the season, to be announced at Friday’s Big Bash awards night.
The other 75 per cent of the vote will be split equally between Falcons coaches, the local press and the players themselves in the newly-amalgamated system.

This season saw Burke score 12 tries in his 29 competitive starts for the club, as well as assuming captain’s duties for the tail end of the campaign.

The World Cup winner polled 30.6%of the supporters’ vote, way ahead of any other player, while the top five was completed by Mathew Tait (15.8%), Geoff Parling (6.9%), Andy Perry (4.9%) and Toby Flood (4.6%).

Shows how clueless Rob "it wasn't my fault" Andrew is. Especially as St. Jonny can't play 5 games without getting injured.
