Top 15 Must Have Player Faces For Each Country

Dave Strettle should be in, if for nothing else than his appalling model in Rugby 08!

Also include Hendre "Shrek" Fourie - he will be getting his first England cap sooner rather than later.

Hopefully the bigger nations will have more than 15 likenesses per squad....

I agree that every nation's 1st XV should have their own unique faces, but the bigger rugby nations i.e. South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Wales, England, France, Argentina etc. could easily have 30 or more names that would probably require unique faces.

I think the line up for the New Zealand team at the world cup will be

1 - Tony Woodcock
2 - Andrew Hore/Kevin Mealamu
3 - Ben Franks
4 - Brad Thorn / Ali Williams
5 - Tom Donnely / Chris Jack
6 - Jerome Kaino
7 - Richie McCaw / Liam Messam
8 - Kieran Read / Rodney So'oialo
9 - Piri Weepu/Jimmy Cowan
10 - Dan Carter
11 - Jo Rokococo/Zac Guilford
12 - Ma'a Nonu / Sonny Bill Williams (signed for crusaders from french side toulon, former RL player. Tore defenses apart. He could really be in the NZ set up next season for the WC)
13 - Conrad Smith / Richard Kahui
14 - Cory Jane/Sitiveni Sivivatu
15 - Mils Muliaina/Israel Dagg

added a few in to your NZ side that i think should have faces.

Wales should have -
15. Lee Byrne / Morgan Stoddart
14. Leigh Halfpenny
13. Jonathan Davies / Andrew Bishop
12. Jamie Roberts / James Hook
11. Shane Williams
10. Stephen Jones
9. Mike Phillips / Tavis Knoyle
8. Jonathan Thomas
7. Sam Warburton / Martyn Williams
6. Rob McCusker / Ryan Jones
5. Alun Wyn Jones
4. Bradley Davies
3. Adam Jones
2. Matthew Rees
1. Gethin Jenkins

Welsh players who could make an impact this season - Jason Tovey (Fly Half) / Josh Turnbull (Flanker/No.8) / Dan Lydiate (Flanker) / George North (Wing) / Gavin Quinell (Lock/Back Row) / Rhys Thomas (Prop) / Ken Owen (Hooker). Heard it here first about George North. 18years old, 6'3, nearly 17stone, quick, strong and can finish! Scarlets Acadamy product. A Winger of that size is pretty common in the southern hemisphere i guess, but in wales, it doesnt happen very often!! All the names i have stated here are players that could be included in the world cup.

Morgan Stoddart? You are joking?

More importantly, Jonathan Thomas? At 8? The guy's a donkey, has no dynamism in the loose and his lineout work has been shoddy at best. Even thought Gatland has a soft spot for him I would hope that he would be nowhere near to a world cup 15 with the likes of Warburton, Lydiate, McCusker and Turnbull coming through the ranks with younger players like Jason Tipuric maybe pushing for a bench spot.

i put in morgan stoddart as he is outstanding at regional level, and european level, and with lee byrne seriously off the boil last season with NOBODY to put in instead of him due to stoddarts injury, this next year will be interesting for the full back role. Jason Tovey can be added but he has been pushed up to 10, and a great move that.

and how many times does stephen jones have to prove doubters wrong! biggar had his test v the all blacks and after all his chopsing in the press, was awful. even missed a kick in front of the posts. Stephen Jones WILL be 10 in the world cup, and it will be his last. He controls the welsh backline and gets the best out of his centres. biggar seems to ignore everyone and throws interception passes, even for the ospreys.

i thought the jon thomas at 8 would cause someone to say something! basically, wales lack a number 8.we have no no.8. ryan jones is awful, cant control the back of the scrum, and RARELY gains yards, and on the summer tour v the all blacks, jon thomas played better at 8 than ryan jones ever has. im not saying that i think jon thomas should be there, its just that the number 8s in wales are all non welsh players. mccusker and warburton i see as the flanks with lydiate and turnbull challenging. turnbull can play 8, but is better at 6 and 7, same as mccusker. warburton is better when he is at 7, same as lydiate.

as for henson, forget it! he had all the talent in the world and he's thrown it away. he hasnt played, or trained in a while, he went camping in the snowy weather, going ball room dancing, its time the welsh media and coaches forgot about him. dont get me wrong, henson on his day is a class act, but with jamie roberts, james hook, andrew bishop, jon davies all in the welsh camp, then theres PLENTY of centres from the wales u20's just been given contracts at ther regions, he has ALOT to prove, IF he comes back to rugby. imo, he's thrown it away. Even the Ospreys are doing better without him (and im not what they call a fan of theres!!).

i try not to be one eyed, but like everyone, they have views like that every now and then.

so tomwid88, who would you place at 8 for wales?? please dont say ryan jones! you posted a sensible post above!! dont throw it away!!!!
as i said, my oppinion with JT was only basesd on the summer tour of nz only.

I would play Ryan Jones above Jonathan Thomas in a heartbeat. Jonathan Thomas adds nothing to the pack anymore, makes no metres when ball carrying and rarely does much work in the ruck area. At least Ryan Jones hits a lot of rucks, although I do think now that he appears to lost a bit of pace his best position is at 6. Other options, Andy Powell makes good hits in defence, but his rucking game is non-existant and his carrying ability seems to have waned. Toby Faletau at the Dragons seems to be coming along well, but he is 2-3 years off challenging for the 8 spot. We do seem to lack 8s at the moment, but Ryan Jones isn't a bad player and he is useful in a backrow with Warburton and McCusker/Lydiate.

Oh and your comment about Biggar is rubbish, as soon as we find a talented player at 10 in Wales everybody seems to criticise, claiming that he's "not the next Barry John" and that he shoots his mouth off in the press. He rarely "shoots his mouth off", he is just a confident, slightly arrogant fly-half who is not in the mould of the "Welsh Fly-half" such as Phil Bennett. He is however much more capable of getting his backs working than somebody like Hook, and although I feel Jones is the incumbent right now, Biggar is pushing him for the 10 spot.

To be fair, putting Ryan Jones at 8 isn't a completely ridiculous call is it? He is our captain and Number 8. There is no one better atm that I can see. I've said plenty of times that our back row is the worst in the 6 Nations, and Ryan's pedestrian performances contribute to that, but I can see no one else to put in there that would make us a more efficient and effective unit. Atleast Ryan has the experience and respect of his team that would warrant his selection.

Slightly arrogant?

He's the Welsh Cipriani.

Nah, Hensons proven himself on the International stage, and shown he's a good player, Cippers has done neither

Actually I was trying to think of someone suitably orange and the best I could come up with was Dale Winton
