Haha a blindside flanker leading the try scoring :D he must be thrilled with himself, considering he had two tries prior to today!

Whoever is the top try scorer after the pool matches from a leading team that makes the semis tends to be the highest try scorer. Looks like Habana.

Drew Mitchell is currently in the lead....and he has been named to start against Canada this weekend in which he will happily get more to increase his tally.

True, however if Mortlock is fit this will likely be the last game that Mitchell starts in, given that Ashley-Cooper and Tuqiri appear to be the preferred wings (if Mortlock is still injured Ashley-Cooper plays centre and Mitchell could start on the wing).

Interestingly Doug Howlett is Equal with Mitchell on 5 tries and if he starts against Romania and gets a few tries he will be close to the top try scorer, given that he is the AB's form winger at the moment, and as such is likely to start in all of the AB's knockout games.

Unlucky for Howlett that his chances of starting against Romania are very minimal! Roks needs a game, and Sivivatu needs another bite at the cherry especially after his performance against Scotland. Get the confidence going up before they play France.

With a maximum of three games left for any team there a few contenders left for top try scorer in the cup - they are:

Mitchell 7
Habana 6
Howlett 6
Clerc 5
Rococoko 5
Latham 5
Sivivatu 4
Sackey 4
R Lamont 4

There are a list of players on 3 or less tries but it would be very unlikely that they will be able to catch up on the current leader. So really only 9 players in contention, and if quarter finals go on form that would likely eliminate Clerc, Sackey and Lamont from the race as it would be their final games. So it really leaves Habana, the three New Zealand wingers, and Mitchell and Latham from Australia. Given the relatively easy quarter final South Africa has I'd agree with the majority of posters that state that Habana is the favourite, however I certainly wouldn't rule out any of the New Zealand wingers from being the top tryscorer at the end

I think V.Clerc was scored 2 try VS New Zealand and he became the best scorer of world cup
