Smoking ban arrives

<div class='quotemain'>

And finally? When did a single member of the public get a say on on this pathetic, political-correctness gone mad law?

Democracy, my arse.
[/b]

Democracy? I'd say this is enforced democracy.

The majority of people don't smoke...smoking damages health...it's a no brainer....it's just smokers are just so selfish that there had to be a draconian law brought it.

It's the same with drink driving and seat belt wearing....the government gets accused of being a "nanny state" 'cause of some people's stupidity.

End of argument I'm afraid.
[/b][/quote]

And tell me, where is the freedom of choice.

Did you also know playing Rugby is dangerous for your health? Should we ban that next?

And tell me, where is the freedom of choice.

[/b]

You shouldn't choose to do something unpleasant & harmful to innocent bystanders....because some people do the government has to take that choice away from them.

The same with drink driving....and murder. We can't have convicted killers playing the "Freedom of choice" card now can we Chris.

Give it a f***ing rest, you're just using cliches now. You shouldn't choose to go into a pub if you don't like smelling smoke - Wpuld you go to a grand prix if you hate motor racing?

There were plenty of non smoking pubs out there, so why do you want to go into mine?

Anyway, this law wasn't here for anything to do with the publics benifit. Nor was it because Brown and his bunch of arseholes wanted to make the public quit (especially when the tax revinue from cigarette sales can fund the NHS 10 times over). This law is a simple case of government spin because they were falling behind in the polls;
Step 1. Find something and subtly turn public opinion against it.
Step 2. Make a loud song and dance after "noticing" the PC brigade don't like something.
Step 3. Make an even louder song and dance that the government has banned this "for your benifit".
Step 4. Scrap through with a minority government in the next election instead of falling to 3rd in the polls.

Come winter time when everyone will be bothered about going outside the pubs will be dead. No atmosphere through lack of patrons and many will go bust. "Oh no, they'll be fine"... Yeah, if they all turn into f***ing Chief and Brewers. Who wants to drink in one of those shitholes?

Teh Mite, you sound like you need a fag.

Smoking one now. [/b]
I can understand that this is a sensitive matter, I have had a few months of people moaning about ban in work. Tbh, if I was a smoker, then I would be annoyed too.

I think it is the right thing to have these bans because it affect people who don't smoke when a smoker is around but i guess the ban shouldn't be as strict as they have made it.

Jeez...do nicotine withdrawls affect the brains logic centres?

I go to the pub for the beer and footy not the odour.

It just nonsense the way the smoking lobby seem to have claimed ownership of all licenced premises.

30% of the population smokes. 90% of pub goers Smoke.

You do the maths. [/b]

30%? Nah. 90% of pub goers? I doubt that.

Just get with reality and quit....save the money and buy something shiny & electronic.

Simple

Foxtrot oscar. [/b]

Capitulation accepted...welcome to the karmic and financial benefits (not to mention the health, odour and wrinkliness issues)

Health; I know many people who are smokers and much fitter then non smokers. The whole "it'll kill you tomorrow" is over exaggerated bullshit from the leftie government.

Smell; I may smell like cigattes, but on a hot day the rest of you smell like an armpit. And in winter noody can smell anyway.

wrinkles; That's called getting old. Which doesn't matter anyway because apparently, according to the leftie do-gooders, we are all going to die tomorrow anyway.

Financial; I'll spend my money as I please.

Reality; Pull your head out your backside. You said yourself that you go to the pub for 1. Football and 2. Beer.

1. If you go to the pub only to watch Football, you're not a regular in a pub and only go in when the bar is busy with many more non-regulars, hense you may see the non smoking whingers also in there.

2. I'm sure beer is far worse for yours and my health then smokes ever will be. I've never heard of anyone being stabbed in a nicotine-fulled post kickout time assault.

I regularly go in there for footy matches which occur on most nights...ergo I am a regular.

Beer, in moderation, is good for you. Smoking is not and to counter you logic-free final point There was a guy killed in Manchester not so long ago for not giving someone a light....I'd bring Roy Castle into it but I never really liked Record Breakers.

So you go in, watch the footy and f*** off on the final whistle? Yeah, that's a propper pub regular... <_<

And when did I ever say Smoking is actually good for you? What I said was smoking is much worse for you, it doesn't matter what quantities you take it in. You've used a one off tale against regular stories from across the country every weekend. Therefore yours must be the better example.

Face it, you non smokers discriminate against us because of what we choose to do and claim a moral high ground. If smoking kills so much as the f***ing liberals and lefties say, there wouldn't be anyone alive over the age of 60. If it could be prooven that passive smoking kills there would actually be a shread of evidence to back the claim up. It's bullshit and spin to win votes from the government.

And how i pitty the dumb f***ers who bought into it.

And one final point i missed on the Smell factor; If your shirt that you wore all day today doesn't smell of smoke, will you still wear it tomorrow when it's full of sweat? Thought not, bang goes another arguement.

Where to start....it's like wading through a swamp made entirely of nonsense.

Smoking kills, it's proven...that's the long and short of the argument...all your rants about 'lefties', freedom of choice and pubs being the sole territory of smokers can't get past that.

The smoking ban is benefits, benefits, benefits....the only drawback is that around 20% might have to limit their indulging in their expensive, smelly, carcinogenic addiction. It's just the 20% in question are generally pretty selfish.

Selfish? So the one pleasure most of us get, being a few beers and a smoke to chill out after a long days work, is taken away from us. If you bunch of old women didn't like the smell of smoke (most of whom don't use pubs anyway) you should have gone to a non-smoking boozer. There were already plenty of them about, what was wrong with using them? Why take my pub away from me?

f***ing <strike>communists</strike> Socialists.

All pubs are now non-smoking boozers. It's not as if the pubs are banning all smokers from the pubs, you still can go in the pub as normal & when you want a fag, you go outside in the sun. When its comes winter time, just make sure you take your coat.

Why should I have to go outside in the first place? So some fat old tart can steal my seat?
