All the talk out of his tryouts was that his kicking was wowing everyone - is it a one and done and this is him out of the process now or does he keep training and try again next year?

I think they were talking about bumping into him on Eggchasers a couple of weeks back. I don’t think anyone took him up and he was looking at other employment.

Wild as in it's a weird thing to see him do as he wasn't exactly known as a kicker - he kicked well enough but kickoffs, to my eye, aren't the most skillful thing in the sport, considering they're not contestable
Just kick it either left right or centre and far enough that it's in the landing or end zone

From reading the Chiefs subreddit it looks like they expect him to not make the cut but be first in line as a special teams injury replacement and potentially make the roster as a special teams player next year

Chiefs are experimenting with the kick-off specialists due to the new return rules.

It's expected they'll suit slightly bigger and more powerful returners rather than just straight speedsters so they want someone with a bit of beef and tackling experience rather than their usual 80kg kicker.

They were using him as a kick chaser as well, so a generalist special teams guy does seem to be where they're looking at him - only got one rep as a kick returner and didn't make anything of it, whereas Steele looked good there and was getting reps at running back too (and looking good). They used him like they did LRZ last week but he looked much better

Think LRZ was only on the field on attack for three snaps and they were with their 4th choice QB who had an absolute shocker and lost them the game

Unsurprisingly LRZ doesn't make the 53 man roster so is now in the mix for a training squad spot - seen different reports as to whether he's actually IPP now though, after signing for Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, so might have to make a practise squad under his own steam rather than as an IPP player. Regardless of that Chiefs already have an IPP player so unless he's cut or promoted then LRZ would need to be signing as a regular practise squad player if he wanted to stay there

Yeah I think a full season on the practise squad is just over $200k (£150k), so he'd probably be on close to double that if he'd stayed at Gloucester (club and country payments combined) and 3+ times as much if he went to France or Japan

Edit: Practise squad salary is $225,000, so £170,600 - definitely less than he was on in union, especially in a Lions year where they get a 5 figure touring fee (£45k, last tour) plus bonuses for winning

I also think, for his next contract, he could’ve been looking at half a mil as a basic plus a lot on top for sponsorship.

But if it was his dream to do this then fair enough, money wouldn’t have been a major factor. I’m hoping he’s back in a year or 2.

LRZ will be on approx $250,000 for 18 weeks or so if he joins a training roster spot. Jags are looking at him for main roster spot which may bag him double that BUT having seen him in preseason. He is nowhere near fully ready for the main regular spot.

The Jags are looking at him for marketing reasons for certain and links to UK they have. Plus the Khans are nuts on a daily basis.

What a sad state of affairs. Not the first time I’ve said this, and won't be the last, but American football is a joke sport.
