Nice to actually look forward to a game for once. I don’t think we’ll win but hoping we can back up that performance against Ireland and run Scotland close.

First time in 66 tests that Wales have named an unchanged team.
Nah that was the David Sole, Calder era team. They won things
I have no idea what to think leading into this game.
On the one hand I'm quietly positive we can compete and possibly secure a much needed W vs a very good scottish side.
But on the other I'm worried that the Irish game was part bounce, part catching Ireland by surprise after being so totally inept v France and Italy.
The main reason I think the first is more likely is becsuse the Ireland game was more than just a 'new coach bounce' imo. There was shape to our attack, solidity at the set piece, and a general change of attitude that bodes well.
Some have referenced Cardiff's lack of translating good attacking rugby into results under Sherrat, and that does concern me slightly. But I think Wales has a pack capable of competing for 80min. v Scotland, and that's not always the case for Cardiff. But we'll have to wait and see.

This is a newly interesting game. Wales were good against Ireland but I think a part of that was being at home under a new coach, and probably surprising Ireland with how they played. Don’t get me wrong, there was an attacking shape from Wales that, if replicated, will cause Scotland a lot of problems - but, I think it’s different being away from home when you are a struggling side. If Wales went 10-0 down in this game I’d fear the worst for them. Head says Scotland should have enough at home to win this. If Wales can get close though I think they are in a good position to potentially beat England next week.
Don’t think he had that problem as attack coach at the Ospreys. The issue with Cardiff has long been the lightweight / underpowered tight 5. This season it’s been half backs as well to add to that mix.
The Cardiff way has always been slick attack but have been missing a platform to create results for some years. That wasn’t an issue against Ireland for Wales and it shouldn’t be against Scotland. I wouldn’t worry about comparing Cardiff’s context with Wales, it’s a different beast at the moment. It’s a step up tactically for Sherratt though, for sure.
I hope they’ve been working on the positional kicking game this week. Scotland will be aware that Ireland won by playing smart in this area at crucial times last week.
Two fast paced teams, think it’ll be a cracker. Must be a lot of pressure on Gregor though, you get the sense losing this one might be a bit of a job finisher!
