USA v England - 19/07/25

I mean it's also v USA

I don't think anyone could fault his physicality but the issue especially as a 6 was his positioning and stamina in defence which he struggled with against higher level opposition
True. Can only play what's in front of you though and he did well in areas he's been fairly criticised for in the past which suggests he's learning. I’ll take that as a positive.

Nice to see a few journeymen of NZ rugby get a run for the USA with guys like Shiloh Klein, Ezekiel Lindenmuth and Jamason Fa'anana-Schultz. Klein even managed to barge over for a try too.

The average athlete is much better, but we lack the technical skills.

We need to raise $15 million and go recruit some Pacific Islanders.

Promise citizenship and some other goodies.
Is this what you really want though?

I appreciate that 6yrs isn't long enough to develop home grown talent but is a team of pure mercenaries the answer?

Specifically on the Pacific Islanders, NZ and Australia typically take the best of these and Fiji are the only other side that is competitive. Even if the best of the rest from Samoa or Tonga decided to throw their lot in with the US, getting beyond the group stages would be a major achievement.

If you’re going down that route, throw your money at South Africans.
