France v South Africa - 8/11/2025

I would isually agree, but not only are they down to 14, the game is high tempo, ball is staying in play , and Rassie made a 30 min prop sub...

They will slow, its whether France can be patient in the next 15 mins

The 30m prop sub just means one prop played 30m and another 50m, rather than 50 and 30.

Master class in this 2nd half from SA, tightened up, played what they are good at, told France if you want to beat us your going to have to take risks out wide....

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why South Africa are the best in the world.

France will be rueing missed opportunities they failed to convert, but mostly, their own discipline let them down.
South Africa were there for the taking, but you've got to be perfect to convert that into an actual win, and even that is rarely enough.

France need to get some international quality props.
South Africa awesome second half. Clearly favs for the next WC

Love em or loath them that was a champion team with a coach in a league if his own.

France did French things. Red card might have hurt them more perversly. For as good as the Top 14 is French teams seem to get done when you go to the air.

Perhaps but his lack of wrap and body position meant he was unsighted as the shoulder dropped and hit his head with a lot of force.

I guess we just disagree on the "facts". His lack of wrap: did you see his other arm? And of course a defenders ability to wrap (the other arm) is going to be nerfed if the defender falls forward.
And the problem is not the force. The problem is that the force was directed at the head (and that was unfortunate and not the defender's fault, imo). My point is that I find it unrealistic to expect defenders to adjust to such a fast paced and unpredictable situation.

And of course i want to protect players, etc, etc, but not at the expense of demanding ludicrous things from defenders and then throwing them under the bus when they cant accomplish what is asked from them.

TLDR: i think what de Jager did was reasonable given the circumstances. I understand the rules arguably support the ref's decision and my complain is not against Gardner, it's against the rules.

Prop is not normally a weak position for France. Where have the good ones gone
Not had any for a while. Over reliant on the creaking Antonio to anchor the scrum.

They also looked really underpowered in the maul. Although most team would be SA tbf
