Ireland v South Africa - 22/11/2025

Devil's advocate and I may have missed something Carley said, but arguably the Ireland player falling forward from the other tackler meant SFM wouldn't have had the time to bring his arm up to wrap. It was a very dynamic scenario, and different to Ryan launching his shoulder into a stationary player.
Possibly, but would be a very generous interpretation. I'd have given a yellow for being in the 22 and stopping the Irish attack illegally.

I agree it was a generous interpretation, but Carley was very generous with the penalty only against Ireland for the most recent head contact. At least he's being sort of consistent in his own decisions, if not with how the game has been reffed recently.

It's frustrating that cards are dominating the game, but they are justified. Ryan was an idiot. It's then put Ireland under pressure and they give away multiple penalties in the 22. Teams need a punishment to stop them being cynical. Unfortunately Ryan has spoilt this game, not the officials.

Carley is the referee that red carded LCD despite no camera angle of head contact and both LCD and the player he supposedly high tackled telling him that there was no head contact
It was later overturned by the citing commission because it was a fully legal tackle

He's an absolute menace to the sport

I know you've got to be confident bordering on arrogant to make it at the top-level of any profession, but there comes a point

You say that, but i honestly think the inconsistency is ruining games not refs or players....

The yellow (upgraded) was deserved, but the no arm to the head should have at least been yellow.

Prendergast being carded for not rolling away 5 phases before a score, is constantly not being called by refs. The phrase 'the try saved the card' is that for a reason.

World rugby have fiddled with the laws, changed the communication, and confused everyone with this stupid everythings a red, every other thing is a potential red nonsense.

And again, Ireland carded for a hand in the ruck, but in the exact same positin SA player in the ruck slaps the hand of JGP only a penalty. Story of a ref reffing 2 sides differently
