England v Argentina

The posts here are overwhelming and that says something
Probably the emotional investment IMO

England were on the ropes several times, perhaps even a standing count. Both sides had to dig very deep and the scenes after the final whistle are a good indicator of how much both teams (and fans) wanted it and what was required to make it so tight/compelling.

Emily Scarrett I think. Call me sexist but personally I'd rather have former men's internationals on the panel. They're different games almost. Watch some women's rugby and care more what women have to say about the women's game too.
She was the pundit on TNT. Commentary is normally done by a non ex pro with the assistant commentator the ex player.

That's a good tough win, playing below how they have been but against a proper side in a test battle.

Missing alot of players aswell who would in the selection thoughts.

SB will be just as happy with this win than he will the others playing well.

He's developing some depth to this squad. Ojomoh Adds another pleasant selection dilemma for him now.

I do feel a bit uneasy about somebody escaping punishment for a tackle that seriously injured an opponent. Let’s be honest Curry could have pulled out there - it was an unnecessary and reckless cheap shot. On further viewing I think it should have been a bin tbh. That was like the Irish incident with Dupont in the 6N - it’s in that grey area where it’s not conclusively serious foul play, but the culprit knows what he’s doing and there’s intent.

Only caught the last 10min. of this. Great finish and was cheering for Arg to nick it in the end.

On the Curry late hit, honestly I didn't see anything wrong with it. Fractionally late, so an understand the pen, but nothing more. Could Curry have pulled out of the tackle? Not sure he could tbh, marginal. Nothing wrong with the tackle itself, so Mallia's injury was just unlucky really.

Thought it was absolutely fine to be honest. Scummy dog shot in a way because the only intention he could have possibly had was to hurt the guy for no gain but it was within the laws of the game imo.

Curry's hit was late in the way every kicker expects.
Gives the ref a decision to make for a penalty, which is fair cop, but no intent to hurt.
He could have made a greater effort to bail from the tackle, but I don't think I've ever seen a player do so.
Talk of cards is silly, any agro off the bat of it is silly, and most likely just the excuse for something that had been building for 80 minutes.
All in all, a bunch of meh.

As for Curry telling Contepomi to **** off - that sounds very much like one side of a story. People just don't tell someone else to **** off for no reason. I've no idea whether there was enough cause to justify the reaction.

As for the game, both teams out in a full blooded performance, and left ever tout there, even if it wasn't particularly high skill game in the whole.
From an England perspective, we played poorly, but we're deserved winners anyway. 11 in a row (which is our longest run with the Shield) and plenty for the new coaches to work on - I'm feeling pretty positive after the AIs.

Especially as we saw on the broadcast Contepomi having a go at the fourth official and then commentary said he was shouting at people in the stands as he walked back

Too put so much focus into a single incident which took place so late on in the game just diminishes the game, it was late by the tiniest of fractions any sooner and it’s a none issue, technically good tackle technique wise, just late never any intent to injure, make the opposition uncomfortable and think twice about holding onto the ball in the immediate future certainly, this is a tale as old as the game, if your not ok with this it’s probably not the sport for you, the injury is one of those unfortunate things, it doesn’t automatically become someone’s fault.

Not even great technique, he tackled with his chest rather than shoulder. It’s a physical game and injuries happen.

felipe bringing back his energy as a player, wish he was as good a coach as he's at shithousery, we'd be world champs

congrats england

i'm happy about the game tho

Totally disagree, The outcome having any bareing what so ever on the decision made is rediculous.

Curry was fractionally late and could have done more to pull out, bad timing so clear pen. If he had got straight back up and carried on or broke his leg has no impact on this....do you think it should? A highly dangerous tackle could cause no injury and nothing reckless but minor offence could cause major damage.
