Penalty instead of scrum

I understand what he means... the penalties that are kicked should have a different points value as per the offence. I.e. offside should be 2 points, not releasing 3 points, high tackle 4 points + sin bin or something similar.

Still think it's daft though. :)

Yes that is what I meant.
And 1 point for knock-on, 2 "suicide points" for carryback.
Abolition of scrum.

as the scrum isnt at all important to rugby union and neither are line outs!!!

you cant remove something that is a key aspect of the sport
as it isnt the same sport afterwords

You think scrummaging should be abolished???

christ

Yes, scrum is the biggest shortcoming of Rugby Union, in my opinion.
Scrum is dangerous, and requires co-operation of the competing teams.
Abolition of scrum and FK, and replacement of PK (points are different in accordance to the types of fouls) would make Rugby Union much safer and spectacular.

This is rugby! If you're so concerned with your precious "safety" then go play Tennis or American Football

Thats blasphemy! You cant abolish scrums! Like Tana said "It's not tiddly winks Mate". I can see him reaching for the handbag :)
I'm not sure about a points system like that for penalties, it will complicate things way too much. If anything penalty kicks and drop goals should have less value to promote even more running rugby. Wether or not this would have the desired effect I'm not sure but old Johnny sure did put the kicking game into the spotlight. Much to the detriment of the game I feel.

In Rugby Union, scrums are important plays.
However, I think that the rule should be changed.

In the case of all fouls, penalties are given. The scores of penalties are different by the type of fouls.
Knock-on -- 1 point,
High-Tackle -- 5 points plus sinbin

And in the case of carryback, 2 "suicide points" are given to the opponent team.

What do you thinik?
I would like to say with all the politeness in my heart, "Go **** Yourself."
However I won't.

You've got to be kidding though, right?

Whatever you do, do not let sigesige00 talk to John O'Neill...he's the only one that will give it serious ear time.

Abolishing scrums is the worst idea ever, they're my favourite part of the game.
Yeah 3 guesses which position I played lol.
Different points for different penalties is a bad idea as well as it's going to confuse the hell out of people.
