Are Saracens going to be doomed?

Hey guys,

Saracens lost to London Irish emphatically earlier. Does this mean that they are going to be doomed in their bid to repeat last season's success or will they be able to fight back? Opinions please!

no we're not doomed at all... but we do need to learn how to catch the bloody ball. we were especially weak under the high ball. And sort our lineout out. And when Irish had men in the bin we didn't take advantage of it, whereas they created overlaps and with that back 3 getting purring they were able to make the most of the extra space.

Great to see Delon back looking very impressive. If he can keep breathing down Foden's neck then it'll only be good for England.

Saracens’ director of rugby Brendan Venter pointed an accusing finger at referee Andrew Small after the controversial sin-binning of fly-half Alex Goode contributed to his side’s second half collapse.
Goode was yellow-carded for getting in the way of a pass from Ryan Lamb when he was in an off-side position.
London Irish scored 15 unanswered points while Goode was off the pitch and Venter said: “That swung the game.”
Venter stopped short of openly criticising Sma;ll but made it clear that he will be discussing the official’s performance with Ed Morrison, the RFU’s head of elite referees, this week.
“I will get myself into trouble if I debate it here [in a press conference]” Venter said.
“I would rather debate it with Ed on Monday when we will look at the game again and see what happened.
“It’s senseless to debate it here. Was it an issue? Of course it was an issue?”
Last season Venter found himself in hot water with the RFU’s disciplinary department when he criticised referee David Rose.

I was thinking thinking "new season, clean slate" for Venter, but I might not have to bother.

I saw the game live in the stadium and from what I saw they didn't bring their best rugby.
Maybe it's just a slip but I hope they do well.

I wouldn't panic but I was there with Bates and...

1. Oirish were polished and sublime whilst Saracens made so many handling errors. The number of times I saw the ball lost forward or knocked on was incredible.
2. Never going to condone foul play and after seeing Goode slap the ball out of someone's hands and another Saracens player shove an Irish player off the ball those were basically 21 points down to crap discipline. Absolute fiasco on that front.
3. Also really timid. Had a friend who is gonna be playing hooker for Plymouth Uni soon and she was so peeved at how indecisive Saracens were at times at the breakdown that even she was considering pulling on a jersey and going down there...quite ironic as she's South African actually

On the other hand once Saracens did get going with either Goode or HOOHAA at the helm they were great and they were always trying hard to ship the ball and keep it alive.

I wouldn't panic, if we are then god knows what Tiger fans are thinking after being mullered comprehensively.

watford expect to make an announcement on tuesday on whether aviva premiership giants saracens will continue to ply their trade at vicarage road.
The championship outfit activated a break clause in the clubs' agreement at the end of may that will see saracens leave the stadium unless a new lease is agreed.
Saracens, though, did have a request for a three-month extension to consider its options accepted by the football club.
Despite the extension to 3rd september, saracens chief executive edward griffiths was quoted recently saying that a long-term decision would not be made until october.
However, watford chief executive julian winter has insisted an announcement will be made on tuesday.
He told the watford observer: "with regards to the 3rd september deadline agreed by both parties, watford fc and saracens have briefly spoken, and we expect to be able to make a fuller announcement (on tuesday)."
