Funny how when others make a "rib in jest" over some aspect of NH rugby, you are all over them like a rash, especially if they are not from the same hemisphere as you, but you take umbrage and write abusive PM's to people who call you out when you make a "rib in jest" over some aspect of SH rugby.
I guess you are OK with double standards?
And to add to that, he's a bit shortsighted as well, for a moderator that's a bit uncalled for. He clearly didn't see my next post in which I complimented the NH club structure.
Oh well, it's a pity that people who are supposed to keed this forum civilized and constructive, are doing the exact opposite. The worst part of all is that he's the only one in this thread to not give constructive post or ideas.

Guys if you want to fling mud at each other then please do it in Private Messages. This is getting beyond a joke, we are all here to discuss Rugby, we will all have differing opinions on things that's part of being a human and thinking for yourself, something AI still hasn't fully mastered yet, we are not here to insult each other...

Anyhow, as I said earlier, In NZ the Six Nations is on ESPN, which means you have to be a subscriber to SkyTV and the Sports Package (at around NZ$85 per month) which gives you Sky Sport 1, 2, 3, Highlights, ESPN and two horse racing channels. However, this won't give you Heineken Cup, Premiership, Top 14 or Pro 12. You have to be a subscriber to The Rugby Channel for that, which will cost you and extra NZ$10 per month.
If you are not a subscriber to Sky Sport, then your Six Nations coverage is limited to try-highlights in the sports section of the 6pm news, and you won't even get that for the NH domestic competition unless its a final.

Yeah I think we have a similar deal here.
In South Africa, we get all the Six Nations Action. The Heineken Cup and the Aviva Premiership and French Top 14 we only get selected coverage on certain games. Most of the time it's the Derby-like matches or the match that will draw the most attention. Like this past weekend we had the Saracens game.
The thing is, you will get SH people showing interest in the NH tournaments, for the pure reason that, some of our guys are playing there...
When Frederic Michalak played SR, there was a few french guys showing interest in the SH tournaments, some have continued their interest and some faded away when Michalak returned to France.
And then you get the rugby-passionate guys like Amabokoboko, Little Guy, TRF Olyy who show interest, or even have a strong following of a certain team in the SR.
@TRF Getofmeland, I appreciate that a moderator has started to try to get grips on this thread, but how about starting with the moderators?? It's easy to say, guys fling mud at each other in PM's, but how about the Moderators actually taking some responsibility for the rules THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO UPHOLD AND CONTROL??!!
In other threads, the Colonial and convict rib-jest, if I were to said it, There would have been at least 2 PM's from different Moderators asking me to stop with those racist-like remarks.
I think it's time that we, the PAYING members, recieve some ****ing courtesy!!
... but that would mean having to watch South African teams.
I have genuinely thought of picking up a South African team to follow, but not until the Premiership is finished.

I tend to follow Harlequins partly on the basis that they are based in a part of London that my family comes from, and partly because Nick Evans plays for them.

It's similar here in the UK, pretty much all SH action is exclusively on SKY Sports which cost £25.00 a month. I'm boycotting it as of this year because I believe it's killing football (soccer) and as a consequence i've lost access to all the rugby they have. It's only really the last 3-4 years that i've followed rugby and i used to watch the SH as & when i got the chance and I really enjoyed it for the most part.

I have sky generally I'll try record the matches on Friday and maybe the early one on Saturday and then watch the rest live. This isn't always possible though so I sometimes have to pick and choose.

I think it's more an issue of emotional investment. I went through a phase when I supported the Cardiff Blues pretty obsessively, it's hard at the beginning but once you know all the players and pretty much what standard they play and how they play it becomes a real pleasure. The point is, I had to get over that original hump of watching them play when I didn't know anything about who they were and how they performed, eventually I got tired of the fact that they were never televised but the point remains.
It's like trying to get a girl to watch rugby, it's a ball-ache at the beginning, they keep checking their phone and look completely disinterested if there isn't a try every ten minutes but if you keep at it for long enough and they learn enough of the players they can eventually be converted.
I don't think it has anything to do with standard of rugby or style of play, I don't watch much European rugby but I'll go watch my old school play and love every minute of it - it's more about having to "force" yourself at the beginning to care, pick a team arbritrary and watch them until you give a ****. Sadly between life and watching the 8 odd games of Super Rugby each weekend, SA Cricket and Premier League I just don't have the time or the inclination to "force" myself to care. Especially (and this is quite a serious point) when none of my mates will discuss it with me.

Good point at the end there. If you have no one to watch or discuss it with it makes anything very difficult to get into or follow. Even a TV series.
Im a kiwi living in Canada and no one I know cares about rugby, I did get my friends to watch the ABs take Canada apart in the WC but I had to buy them pizza while we watched it and some stayed up to watch us win the cup which was nice. I talk to my boss at length about what happened in Super Rugby on the weekend like he knows and cares what Im talking about when he has no idea but he humors me and it helps pass the time.
The 6 Nations was a pain because I downloaded all the games after the fact so had to not check facebook or text messages because my friends from 6N countries would post about it and ruin it for me.
All in all, its pretty difficult being a rugby fan, the players have it easy.
