[RWC2019][Pool B] Round 1 - New Zealand vs. South Africa (21/09/2019)

Very frustrating watching the ref let all the marginal infringements slide for the All Blacks, but calling out every little thing for the Boks.

Not denying that South Africa have been disappointing, but there is a real lack of consistency by the referees that just let's things down further.

as a neutral (who am I kidding I’m rooting for the springboks) I haven’t had a problem with garces. That offside call on the kick was super soft but other than that I think he’s really rewarded the team whose dominant.

Great heads up game of rugby with great athletes. Not massively intelligent for the most part though. That five minute spell NZ had was the best rugby I've seen in 4 years though.

So, in summary, everything I expected to happen happened, but at a much slower pace than expected.

Off to the football.

Rugby won't ever be a 'world game' until there is actual competition.

New Zealand will walk this world cup at a canter.

The nights in Japan almost look more humid than the days, guys looked spent there. I don't take much from that match other than that the AB pack fronted up without too much difficulty.

If Scotland and Ireland can surprise me and find peak form neither QF would be a formality for the SH. These were not two sides to be feared on this evidence.
