well looking at numerous posts everyone seems to have a different opinion so who would YOU like to be the #11 and #14 come the world cup for the all blacks?

For me I would like to see Hosea Gear on the left wing and Cory Jane on the right (if he can't play FB ). With that in mind, I'm a big fan of Lelia Masaga and Joe Rokocoko (for at least four more tries). I like Maitland, but I think that the Crusaders wingers are looking as good as they are because of their teams success, and Gear and Jane will be as good if not better in the Saders.

I'd go for hosea gear and Corey Jane . Maybe guilford he's very fast

11: Gear 14: Toeava (the two incumbent All Black wings)

If Sivivatu gets back near his top form he could force his way in ahead of Gear. Jane would be my second choice right wing; indeed I'd almost be tempted to go with Toeava on the left wing and Jane on the right. Hoping to see Guildford continue his strong showing in the last few games, as I rate him very highly.

I still can't see Toeava as a winger. I think incumbant winger is a tad misleading, as he was only played after Cory Jane got injured (despite CJ was fit later). I just don't think he's quick enough for winger. Fullback I think is where he belongs to be honest, he's got the arial skills required and his creativity can be put on display there. As an out and out winger though...

Toeava got a chance when Jane got injured, however he performed well enough to be selected ahead of Jane in the last match of the tour in what Henry and co. called the "form 15" - that makes him the incumbent wing to me. Though I do agree he is better at fullback, he is still exceptional on the wing. I'm not sure why you don't think he is quick enough for wing. He looks exceptionally fast to me - I'd imagine he would be quite a bit quicker than Cory Jane....

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Israel Dagg on the wing or even in some cases at outside centre, he's got great footwork and has the mould of a clinical finisher. He's good under the high ball and will provide good cover for Mils, he's also really fast. The other one is hard seeing that Jane is such a great player but I don't think he would take 3 full backs in the starting XV and would like a specialist winger. You wouldn't go wrong with the likes of Roko, Maitland, Poki, Sivi or Guildford but Hosea Gear seems to be at the top of the pecking order at the moment.

IMO first selections should be:
11, Gear
14, Toeava

With jane to get his chance as well. I cant see Sivivatu getting back, AB coaches even told him he's not in the current selection frame. He would need to pull out a blinder for the rest of the season to change that and I can't see that happening. Rokocoko wont get in unless there is an injury. Sean Maitland will be considered if there is an injury. Kahui and dagg will also be looked at as potential starters on the wing. Gear is great and all but he hasn't been tested in big games - kahui and Dagg have and they have also passed that test. If the coaches have any doubts about Gear Kahui & dagg will be called on.

Still Gear and Jane for 11 and 14 I think. Having said that though that I've been very impressed with Guildford since his return. He might not have the size of Hosea or the ability to cover fullback (I don't think?) but he has a huge workrate and seems to pop up all over the place for the Crusaders.

Agree with general consensus here of Gear, Ice, Jane. Nick you think Jane is much faster than Toeava?

I'm pretty sure guildford has been asked to play fullback a fair bit at NPC level and done a good job.

Guildfords in great form, the big problem is there will likely only be room for 2 spec wingers, With utility players like Toeava, dagg & kahui set to cover wing.

Yeah Guildford has played at fullback for the Magpies, and played there quite a bit in the New Zealand under 20's team.

Hes never really impressed me there though, he looks like a wing covering 15 instead of a wing that can play 15.

Well, in honesty I didn't think Jane was quick enough for wing either, and I guess I was wrong on that. But Jane has a couple of skills that seems to work well on the wing, such as his fending and kicking, it seemed he wasn't a speed merchant, but could fill the role. I'm just not convinced that Toeava quite has that other dimension that Toeava has, and I don't think he's quite as quick (though I may be wrong, they are both fairly slow wingers), but keep in mind Jane looked best when the up and under game was employed constantly in 2009, in 2010 he didn't have as much impact.

I guess if I'm being fair, I have a fairly solid idea of what a winger should be, and they usualy come in the form of a very, very quick player such as Roks, Gear and Masaga, so maybe I'm being too dismissive of Toeava as a wing. I still think he's got too much skill at fullback, and not enough time on the wing, for him to be starting there. I'd rather he either be used as the ultimate bench man that Henry has had in mind for him for the better part of six years, or be starting at fullback with either Jane or Roks on he right wing and Gear on the left.

I wouldn't mind seeing Israel Dagg at 1st five to cover Dan Carter and fullback....this guy can play anywhere in the backline,Toeava and Guilford for me...

Oh...?

Siva looked really slow last night and maybe lacking a bit of conditioning, still wasn't bad thou...Reckon ability under the highball is going to come into selection play alot especially with a foreseeable semi with SA.

not so sure on hosea gear, he's been almost non existant so far, sivivatu seemed to lack confidence when he was running after maitland, to me it looked like he could have caught him if he backed himself and kept chasing but he just gave up and put a half ass dive in, just looked like he was too embarrassed to keep running after him. sivivatu has been playing more like a centre all season for the chiefs, he's been playing good but he's often standing in the centre position and even creating opportunities for players around him with kicks, passes, offloads, so it seems like he doesn't even want to play on the wing any more, seems like he wants to play as a centre.

ranger, poki and masaga have been in good form too, rokocoko has been quiet but sometimes the ball just hasn't gone his way he seems to be working hard on the field so maybe it will be different in the international season

Maybe cause he's played one game so far, for a losing team...
