Hello guys, I have a little problem, I think I'm too small :(

I wanna know, from you, if the european rugby player is way too bigger than me, because i'm going to London looking for semi-pro or pro team, and i have to pass that mental barrier to go ahead.

170 kg Squat 90º
140 kg bench press
150 kg Dead Lift
140 kg Stiff
11.20s 100m my best mark
Something around 12~13% bf
I play as wing or fullback, and I don't step very well, I prefer to hand off or chock with the guy.

PS: My wish is 85 kg

Recently retired Welsh wing Shane Williams was 170 cm/80 kg, and he is considered to be one of the best rugby players ever.
Size is not the defining characteristic of a rugby player, and with proper technique you can tackle players larger than yourself, but it is important to learn that technique. Good luck to you.

Yeah, but I'm not even 1% that was Shane Williams and will be very hard to born another one hehe, I have a good tackle technique not the best which i ever seen but it's good haha

Aye, that's a massive amount.

Odd to see you squatting more than you deadlift, and benching almost as much you dead as well.

Hehe I started working out with 15 years old, and you know, at that age we want big chest and arms, so I forgot about the legs and lumbar, I started to do these exercices at 20 years old, the **** is that i'm training without strap, so my back can push more, but my fingers can't handle all the weight.hehe

Dead lift with straps should pass over 200 kg, gonna make the test next session.

not sure what a benchpress is havent been to the gym in that long I spend all my days lifting pigs and lambs before chopping them up (ok I probably sound like a mad Welshman now)

I wouldn't worry too much about your size just keep improving the skills, technique and stamina you should be fine and remember to keep your head in the right place when tackling.

sorry, but this just proves you can't bench 140kg. The bar was nowhere near your chest and your buttocks looked nowhere near in contact with the bench.
Yeah, you are right, but the bar doesn't need to touch my chest, what we need to observe on bench press is the 90º between biceps and forearm, and I had a hard shoulder injury when I was training some years ago which made me change the exercise amplitude, but it's still functional, i'm not a weight lifter, i'm a rugby player :)

About the buttock you are right, i took it off the bench, but it doesn't change the weight, just exposes my backbone to casual injury.

And you see what you want, I think it's pretty obvious that I can lift that weight, I don't need to prove anything anymore.

SelimNiai

Much more comfortable hahahaha

Well you're putting most of the members of the forum to shame so I wouldn't worry too much...

Where do you play rugby, and how long have you been playing?

If you want to be a forward I might agree that you're small (for pro-level) but backs can come in all shapes and sizes. Even at hooker you could get away with that weight in a semi-pro team

You guys said enough to make me more confident.

Thank you everybody who tried to give an advice.

Cheers.

There is a saying that in modern rugby you need to have at least two of the following three characteristics
Fast
Big
Skill

Looking at some of the AP players, not sure how many even have more than one. However I think plenty of the current Welsh team have all three.
