Not sure what the weather is down in Northamptonshire, but if it's not as appalling as on this end of the midlands then it could be a great game tonight. Both on some good form going in to it.

Definitely saw Marler throw a punch on the floor after a clearout... think it was on Dickson.

So I came away from this match for the first time in ages, feeling refreshed about the TMO.
Although they took their sweet time: they made the right decisions.

I check Twitter and loads of people are calling for reds.

...It really does make me feel dismayed.

The handbags was just that, handbags.
Lawes turned around whilst being held off the ball by Robson - his triceps making contact with Robsons head then they wrestle.
Making contact with the triceps is not in any way the same as elbowing someone, and frankly I think anyone that classes what Lawes did as an elbow is a moron.
Ma'afu and Collier pushed each other a little, Ma'afu happened to push Collier in the face - not something Collier is going to lose sleep over.

The Pisi tackle was careless with little-to-no attempt to wrap the arms and probably a stiff-arm, it was not high, as some (apparently blind) viewers have said.
A yellow was fine. A citeble incident considering this is his first game back from a ban for a dangerous tackle...? Maybe, but definitely not a red.

Sarries started well.
Problem with Binny is you want him carrying on every phase in the opposition 22
He just carried from 10m out to 1m out with half the Gloucester side clinging to him - if he was available next phase (/if Cowan hadn't killed the ball) he'd have easily burst over for the try.

Strange choice from Saracens to just go to a kicking game with Cowan in the bin - they should be trying to exploit the extra man, but they're just kicking long straight to Cook.

Christ, that clip they just showed for the second try:
A third of the Gloucester side were defending to the right of the ruck..........against literally no attackers. The entire Sarries backline were to the left, yet the 5 Gloucester players didn't even look interested in working over to help defence.

Coaching at Gloucester is a shambles - who's their defence coach?!

Marcelo Bosch has been very good so far - knows exactly when to straighten up in defence, and runs intelligent lines - making breaks for fun.

As uninspiring as Strettle is, if Lancaster insists on a Saracen on the wing he'd be a far better option than Ashton. He may not have done anything in an England shirt when given his chances, but he's way better at the basics than Ashton.

Strettle should be a caretaker option. He's of the same opinion about service to the Red Rose that Charlie Hodgeson had in the couple of seasons before he retired from international rugby: anything he can do for England he will do but he knows he isn't a long term option. Its definitely the likes of Wade, Yarde, and the other new guys coming through.

Bosch has been great. Goode doing his usual thing. Farrell has been excellent as well in my view bar his ropey kicking from the spot (which has turned everything upside down). Definitely helped by the bizarre Glaws defence...

Why are we looking for a caretaker option? We have plenty of viable permanent options!

Completely agree Olyy - as much as the players need to sort themselves out, the coaches are responsible for the team as a whole and right now they are a shambles.

The only trouble with going back to strettle is how many chances can 1 person have ?!? He's already had a load more chances than varndell who is a far more proven try scorer at club level ! I really think we need to move on and give May, Watson, Nowell or Walker a chance

Kvesic is doing the best impression of the invisible man I've ever seen too . If he's the next best back row England have id be a bit worried he doesn't look like he gives a **** tbh

Thats if they go back to him. Rat does point out that there are a few guys - Sharples and May just to name two from Gloucester alone - who can step up.

He knows and everyone else knows that if he does come back its probably as injury cover only. Thats my view now.

Yeh I think that's fair enough

Most people believe that wade and yarde are our premier wingers and I'd say strettle would be amongst the next 6 or so wingers . I don't think Ashton is in the top 8 tbh

Bosch looks like an excellent signing. Offers so much more than Tompkins and has a hell of a boot. Not to England selectors, if we do go with Barritt at 12 we need someone like Bosch outside him to provide the creativity.

Ashton just isn't repeating his club form. I don't understand why to be honest.

Aaaaand...thats why Burns shouldn't get the England fly half berth. Just a three way dogfight between Farrell, Ford and Cipriani now I guess.

Yep burns will find himself out of the EPS with ford and cips being impressive burns has been awful all season this is the first game in the second half of the season not just a couple of games in either

Just a note:
I wasn't saying Strettle should be our winger, just that the coaching set up has a fixation with Saracens atm, and if they want a token Saracen in the backline then Strettle is the best of a bad bunch :p

The England backs against France at the rate will be wigglesworth Farrell barritt Ashton strettle and Goode with a token person in the 13 shirt :(

Billy Billy Billy. Silly man!

Honestly. If you're the only guy on your team buried under a pile of opposition players kicking your legs and waving your arms roughly where the ball is, chances are you'll get seen by the referee. Just sayin'

Someone give him the Danny Grewcock award for dopey behaviour in front of a referee!

EDIT: Could be 13 men here now....
