Earl s a better overall rugby player than Ludlum he is certainly more of an athlete. However Ludlum is proven as a genuine lineout option, which it would appear is a pre requisite for Borthwick.
Earl might be quicker but there is no evidence to say he’s a better rugby player nor that he’s a better athlete. Fundamentally they play very differently and offer different things so to compare them as apples vs apples is pretty pointless.
