Over the last week there's been a lot of talk and debate over all socials ref 4G pitches. Most of what I'm reading is that they shouldn't be allowed in the Prem. Just watched this weeks rugby pod and Jim Hamilton discusses it again.
They compare rugby with football where they were all removed and mention that no rugby internationals can be played on them.
Having witnessed the state of the pitch at Kingston Park prior to ours being laid, I can clearly see the benefits of us having one, no waterlogged pitch or games being called off due to frozen pitch etc, does that out weigh the negative reason which are being discussed at present?

Not sure I've ever heard a neutral player or coach say they prefer a plastic pitch, and there have been a number of players who have had to avoid playing on them because the increased injury risk

Personally I hated playing or training on them

I'd outright ban them from the pro level, tbh, but I can understand why clubs want them

Saints seem to have a degree of pride in the pitch at The Gardens. Frozen or water logged pitches should not be a problem at Prem level. I can't recall when the last time a game was postponed at Saints.

I'm also guessing another benefit of plastic is in cost, staff and time on grounds maintenance.

The plastic pitches are horrible to play on I'd rather play in a sea of mud.

It's a **** one, don't think we're in a place like soccer where a team has the resources to ensure games aren't postponed (they still are outside the top 5 Euro leagues) but rugby shouldn't be played on them even at an elite amateur level, worst injuries I've ever seen have been on plastic.

I loved them, I could move faster, predict the bounce of a ball better and forwards were more reserved on them. But not everyone is lucky enough to be God's gift to earth (a number 10).

Looks like the pitch at Kingston Park is currently being ripped up and replaced with a brand new Artificial Grass Pitch.
Me personally, I would have preferred a new grass pitch being laid, but i fully understand that the reason we have a AGP at KP its to prevent games being called off due to frozen pitch etc

I think they’re awful and clearly aggravate or cause, quite a lot of injuries.

I agree that they should be banned from the Prem !
