Having ads and pop-ups is rather crap.....people do not like them especially when they are intrusive. They make the forum look dodgy and crap.

Not to mention Pop-ups are the scum of internets universe.

Whilst i understand that server bills need to be paid surely there is more creative ways than whoring yourselves to online casinos etc.

One forum i go onto cuts out the ads as soon as you login.

Maybe that could be a compromise?

I've never once had a pop-up from this site. And the other ads are pretty spaced around - I don't find they interfere with the viewing the content of the forum.

Maybe it's because I use FireFox, but I don't get pop-ups either. And the other adds aren't all that bad. At the other site I mod, we once had it set that every second post in every single thread would be made by google, containing google-adds.
Now THAT was annoying.
But unless you actually pay attention to them, I don't think anyone actually notices the advertisement here.

I didn't think we had popups here, I use both Firefox and Internet Explorer when I'm in work and I've never had popups, besides you usually get the bar at the top of the screen which tells you that a popup has been blocked.

Well I can basically say we DO Not have pop up adverts on this site, i am in charge of advertising and use IE and Firefox and have never once experienced any popups, maybe you should check your machine for spyware first before coming on here and having a rant about popup adverts...

We need advertising to survive, if we didn't myself, dan and mite would all be even more broke than we are now... So unless you want to donate £14 a month to the forum, the adverts won't be going...

Just to add to the theme, never had a single pop up from this site either. I'd rather die than use them!

As for the adverts at the top, it's a neccessity I'm afraid. We need the revenue (and for what the ads are, we get a good deal) to survive. Me, Charlie and Mite are young men in England at a crucial time of our lives, every penny counts.

Its all income to keep this place open, the people who provide our ads have changed their provider, so unfortunately these are here...

So unless you know someone willing to pay me £2000 a year for advertising then I will consider it :)

Some of the tarts in the ads are genuinely nice looking lasses who I'd be 100% certain to get a date with if I clicked on their link, so I say they stay!

is there any way we can get a minimise button or such on the mini profile on posts? for people like myself who have as small signature (or one at all) it leaves a awful lot of empty space just to show this:

its not like im asking for sigs to have max size or ban like some forums do, just some way to save scrolling times.

imo, it should show your status (ie for me, international) your balls, group, country, club and rep, and have the rest minimised. just a thought.

Haha, no friends!!! (I only have one though...)

There actually is a max size for sigs anyway, its 450x300px, however its more of a guideline I suppose...just aslong as they aren't stupidly big...mine's too high.

Good idea on the minimising thing though. I suppose the minimise button could minimise both the information AND the sig... What a terrific idea!
