How much, if anything, do the Baa-Baas make? Is it in the form of a match fee, or something else? Their website says that the club takes a share of the gate receipts to cover expenses, but they don't say whether these expenses include paying players or not.

On a related topic, does the Barbarian F.C. receive a share of the TV money for their games?

I always thought that the players did it for free, but I have seen people going on about them getting a load of cash for playing

Hopefully someone else will know.

the Barbarians do get paid quite a bit I think Olyy

in 2010 when Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Drew Mitchell played for the Barbarians against South Africa in 2010

they were all fined for not declaring $60,000 of earnings they got from the match

Three Wallabies were issued with infringement notices by the Australian Federal Police after failing to declare money to Customs officers. Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Drew Mitchell were investigated by the AFP after not declaring more than $60,000 in cash to Customs when they returned to Sydney following the Wallabies' end-of-season tour last December. The money was earned when the trio played for the Barbarians at the end of the northern hemisphere tour. The players said they had forgotten to declare the money, and were fined $220 each by the AFP.

Unless I'm missing something, that is just the statement referred to in the OP about "The costs incurred by the Barbarians in assembling a squad for each game or tour are paid out of the gate receipts from the match, or matches, played." It doesn't say anything about whether or not one of those 'costs' is the payment of players. Psychic Duck seems to be providing solid evidence that the players are in fact pretty-well paid, though.

The question of the club itself receiving any TV money is still unaddressed, however.

I understand that there is an agent, a lawyer I believe, charged with signing up the players for the various tours which shows a measure of professionalism. I am aware, also, that players around here were itching to get shelected because of the the money that they could earn for being part of the tour in addition to the craic that is inevitable when you get a bunch of rugby guys together. They do not just do it and risk injury for the kudos but as to the quantum, I have no idea!! Furthermore, I believe I have seen TV footage of Mickey Steele-Bodger, the President, on a tour in the Eastern Bloc with various players and believe the BaaBaas took a squad there to widen the appeal of the game, coach and to donate kit as well as play............................that would all take financing?

Wasn't the old story that the Barbarians was a thing of honour but that upon returning to the dressing room the players used to find money tucked into their socks (in the amateur days btw).
