Bath or "The champions guide to rugby"

Article in the Times the other day saying that Coka had spoken to SB and is hopeful of an Eng tour spot in the summer. Been working with a sports psychologist and also doing a lot of hand-eye coordination work to help with his issues under a high ball.

Didn’t read like someone imminently heading to the other side of the Channel. But if there’s an offer on the table and he doesn’t get picked then who knows.

He’s an unfulfilled talent. Underhill’s in a different place and I just don’t get SB’s ambivalence. Seem to be good things going on at Bath which would be a pull. But if you’re about to turn 29, have fallen down the national pecking order and have a bit of an injury history then a large cheque’s going to be tempting.

Neither speak like people looking for an exit - and by this stage in the season, if there was much fire for the smoke, you'd think rumours would be coalescing around specific clubs, rather than just "Somewhere in France" - it's more that the rumours just refuse to stop circulating - so I'll circulate them here, despite scepticism.

If I had to guess, it's that they want to at least see out their contracts, then move as free agents with winners medals in their pockets.

ETA: And since I put that list together, Annett and Cordwell announce their retirements. Looks like we're doing this in pairs for the seniors:

Cordwell’s name has been around a while, but I don’t really know that much about him. If this isn’t injury driven then 26 is very young to pack it all in - I’d hope his retirement would just be from the pro game.

Reportedly been carrying a back injury - able to play but not without pain all year - Hopefully some rest and recovery, and he can rejoin the sport lower down the pyramid, or in a less intense position.
No idea if he'd be suited to coaching, but I've not seen anything to suggest he's considering that.

I think this is right for now.

Unless we've got any more big surprises, then the only editting SHOULD be anyone graduating from academy to senior (I've counted Tuipolotu - but that's more because I've only got enough space for 3 players in any position in the academy). Or highlighting new caps (eg Ojomoh in Argentina, or Linegar for Eng U20)

Love that Tom Dunn seems to have been getting his face torn off forever, and that absolutely no-one has managed to dissuade Alfie from his style by showing him Harry Enfield scouser sketches on loop.

Planning inspector at BANES recommends consenting to the application.
It's THE agenda item for next week's planning committee meeting.
Angela Raynor wanted time to decide whether or not to call it in - but she's no longer SoS, so it's not her decision any longer. No-one knows if Steve Reed cares or not, but it would be unreasonable to expect a quick decision from him.

From what I can tell, it means that permission is likely to be granted - something like 85% chance overall - but it might take another year to be confirmed.

I wonder what grounds he could possibly have to deny it seeing as it had broad local and council support in a notorious NIMBY area.

As far as I'm aware, that's the last hurdle, and should (yeah, I know) put to bed any chance of the Fiends appealing the planning permission - which they've yet to find a point of law to base an appeal on.

A message from CEO, Tarquin McDonald ahead of Round 3
TL : DR
There are some conditions to finalise with the Council over the next few weeks after which final approval will be given. The next year will see detailed technical planning together with locking in the necessary finances before going to tender for contractors. Naming rights for the stadium are an option for a sponsor.
Intention is that construction will start in close season 27 (a longer close season due to RWC27)

What are your thoughts on the stadium as a whole, I’m actually quite a fan of the rec, to be honest and love the atmosphere and see it as historical and part of their make up, for me a new stadium isn’t necessarily progress, interestEd to hear from someone with more attachment though.
