Hi, I'm just looking for feedback in relation to interest in Beach rugby.

I am the Chairman of Sileby Vikings RFC. Currently I am organizing activity weekends in Spain, to include sevens Beach Rugby. I have been pleasantly surprised with the amount of interest from various Rugby clubs.
We are now looking at planning for 2011 but would be interested in seeing if there are any requests/ideas/venues that people have and would like to put forward.....Anything is possible!

Thank you and I look forward to your responses!

Would sand in the eye not be a big problem?

Everytime there is a tackle, one would get a face full of it, no?

I take it you have not come across beach rugby before?

It is growing in popularity worldwide. Check it out on Wikipedia or google it to see some great footage!
:)

It's just rugby on a beach, what's so hard to get? :p
I remember there was a big push last summer for this (England players at tournaments and things like that to garner interest) - i think it looks pretty fun

I'd love to get in some beach rugby...it looks like loads of fun. Beach, Rugby, Bikinis, Beer...I dream that heaven is like that.

No one plays volleyball on a rain soaked patch of grass in mid-January do they?

Almost every team in Belgium organizes sessions on the beach during summer, ideal for the youth teams but the seniors as well.
Even I did it a couple of time with just friends. Only disadvantages are the weather, when there is too much wind, kicking is hell :-) and the tides.
But Spain sounds really cool.
We once did it in the Camarague, South France. Best place I've played it so far.

Any beach venue is good for it, but obviously the better the weather, the nicer it is!
We are looking forward to our next game on 17th of September on the beach in Calpe, Spain.

Would be nice to hear of other recommended beaches!

Our team is speaking of going to Italy during the Easter period or beginning next summer, if we could organize something there I would sign up for it asap. Nice girls, good food.

This is Why Beach Rugby is Great! Oh, and you get to play rugby.

And yes, actually, they have Mud Volley Ball Tournaments:

I have friends that participate it tournaments like this every year.

Hmm, no rain soaked grass and not the middle of Jan. Majorly gay fail.

That has as little to do with volleyball as beach rugby has to do with rugby, if you want to letch at women or watch pseudo mud wrestling go to a strip bar.

Mud volleyball is literally volleyball played in a muddy wet rain soaked plot of ground...It's not mud wrestling.

Why are you so turned off by Beach Rugby? Makes no sense at all, unless you just don't like the beach. No one is arguing for this to replace all rugby, it's just a fun thing to do in the summer. Next you'll take the pulpit against tag rugby and all her evils.

He seems to be under the assumption that ALL rugby games are played on muddy pitches in january...Hence the objection about beach rugby.
