Currently I'm stuck in the apartment with a blizzard roaring outside. My work closed early tonight and good thing too as visibility outside is little and the worst of the storm hasn't even arrived yet. Around midnight snow will begin to accumulate around 3 inches per hour. By morning we're expecting anywhere from 20 to 30 inches of snow in Chicago.

I have been taking footage of the storm since the afternoon and will continue to do so through the evening. I'm actually about to go outside now. There is so much snow piling up that the plow trucks can't keep up!

Officials shut down one of the busiest streets in the city which forced people to abandon their vehicles or stay with them overnight. There are actually thousands of abandoned vehicles on the roads over here. I just came in from digging out my car. The temperatures will drop well below freezing overnight, so if you don't dig out your car you're pretty much screwed.

It takes a lot to close the schools here. Snow drifts were so high this time around. I went back to work today and the plow guy that went through the parking lot decided to pile up the snow near the entrances and exits. When I tried to leave I could not see to my left if any cars were coming because of how high the snow was piled up. Whoever did that is a dumb ass.

A have a few friends in the UK and they've told me about how much snow some areas had last winter. I don't know about this winter, but I always thought that was pretty unusual.
