Coloured tape?

Whats this coloured tape/strapping players are wearing on their legs? Usually the answer would be simple but they have it on their legs vertically as oppose to horizontal so it doesnt look like its supporting anything.

Kinesiology tape: It's used to support various muscles/tendons (depending on where abouts it is placed).

Rock Tape is another brand. They're both pretty much the same. When properly applied, they will help maintain proper posture, maintain joint alignment, relieve soft tissue pain, and increase blood flow. When applied improperly, the just make you look like a doofus.

The FIFA World Cup was really hilarious to watch. All of a sudden you noticed things they adopted from rugby. The kinesiology tape used by players, assistant coaches sitting high in the stands to have a better view of the game and most noticeable were the players taking a free kick taking specific steps backwards, actually calculating the distance...

The tape you refer to in this thread has been used for quite some time now. I was surprised the first time I saw it, but I guess it really helps
