Australia will always dominate at events like this, they have some of the best athletes in the world, and remember we are only a little nation, especially when we get split up in to our countries...

BTW Loving the fact England chose Jerusalem as their Nation Anthem... think it should be adopted for Rugby as well now

The aptly named Jack Bauer is kicking everyones arse in the mens road race atm,
Got a 36second lead on the chasing pack, though has probably burnt himself out.

England alone still has twice the population of Australia, and over 12 times that of New Zealand. Hardly much of an excuse.

The commonwealth games just go to show what an awesome sporting nation Australia is. They've got a wonderful outdoorsy, healthy, sport-loving culture and thus they produce great teams/ athletes at almost everything, despite there being only 20 million of them.

Also, I'm impressed with England's efforts. Our big names in athletics who would be getting golds - Ohurogu, Ennis, Idowu etc. have pulled out. But people like Louise Hazell have really stepped up to the mark, which is great to see.

The athletics in general is a bit of a joke - Eastern European athletes who boss most of the field events aren't there; the Americans boss everything and aren't there; and the Jamaicans who dominate the sprints have sent youngsters along.

The 100m is quite farcical, as it was in the European Championships. The times that won the gold would just about get you through a heat in the Olympics.

Cycling has been interesting, seeing as a lot of British cyclists who'd have normally bossed it haven't gone, so it's left it open, and the Australians have pounced on it, picking up quite a few medals
Also Mark Cavendish, who was favorite for the Mens Road Race, only came in at 7th.
Just read that it hit 42deg during that race!

I believe that the winner of the 100m was in fact the 8th fastest Jamaican team runner? This should make for an interesting London 2012 :)

The difference being that some people are doing other things than sport in England...Like, you know cultural stuff...Movies, music, art etc...Unlike Oz where if you're not ripped and built like a brick shithouse you're a nerd...

Hey Charles, good to see you got off the fence alright. I bet your arse was getting mighty sore. Although, being French, you're probably used to it. :p

all i'll say about the games so far is that it kinda sucks to see NZ get so many silver medals. So far we have only 2 golds and a few bronze, seem to have tons of silvers! Seems our guys are getting piped at the post!

Gold for Wales (just found the clip)
Dai Green- Men's 400M hurdles, with Rhys Williams (son of winger JJ) in third.
