Confirmed Transfers

Amazing career. Great servant to club and country. How many caps might he have racked up if he hadn’t been canned for 3 years after 19?

One try every 40 games across his career although obviously goal hanging for England with a sensational strike rate of one in 30. 😀

Feels like the end of an era - both for Cole and old school props in general.

Marler
Cole
Care
Youngs
Brown
Watson
Goode
Harrison
Taylor
Beaumont

It's kinda depressing seeing the generation I grew up watching and following throughout their career retire.
Was thinking the same when Taylor and Beaumont announced theirs - this era of players was when I went from watching games on the weekend to actively following the sport/academies/a games etc

If this Red Bull deal goes ahead which is now looking likely, and Diamond has stated hes looking for 20 players. Theres a fair few being released that could be exactly what he wants....older proven top level performers , like Gordon, Arnold and Nield who he brought in straight away last season.

You should worry - it’s when the sons retire that you’re in trouble.

Both quite a bit older than me, but I clearly remember Nick Youngs and Bill Beaumont played in the first international I saw at Twickenham. School mate of mine played alongside Rob Lozowski for a fair while.

Cole looked 40 when he was 23, now he's 30 odd he still looks 40, ages liked fine wine.

Eddie ruined Cole by making him shed that weight, brilliant old school prop and a great servant to the game.
To be entirely fair, I think it was actually Lancaster who initially encouraged our front row players to slim down for mobility etc.

Hmmm in terms of current free agents Falcons would do well in getting
Freddie Clark
Hammond
Vivas
Tussle/Ackermann
Harris
Addison
Schonert
Hallet
Naulago

Would be top of my list to have a chat with

Some strange ones leaving Bristol; Bailey is very highly regarded by many fans and I personally like Tull, he's the kind of player who would slot into that Heenan role (who's going home) across the back row and has even captained the Bris age grade side. Biggest loss from this season would be Caulfield. Our only real tight head lock and local lad at that. Still only 26. I don't think Rubiolo we signed from falcons is that kind of lock and more of a hybrid lock/back row type. Sad to see Yann call time but great that he came back from worrying injury to play for us again.

Naulago is getting on a bit and has been so unlucky with injuries (including missing England call up from EJ due to one), my favourite winger when in form. Malins out would be a huge problem if not for Jordan in so that's okay in theory.

I'm hoping there's a couple more signings on the horizon as a few injuries like we have this season and we are going to struggle again in several positions.
