Confirmed Transfers

Josh Beaumont? That seems young
Lots of injury build up over his career - he almost had to call it a day a few years ago after an injury led to surgery led to bad infection led to multiple follow up surgeries

I imagine he's got something lined up for his post rugby career and that's made it an easier choice when his contract ran out: he turned down an academy spot to go to university instead and then has done a masters (or two?) while a pro player so has his screwed on straight

That's good to hear. Always a worry when a career is cut short

Addison confirmed as leaving Sale - tbh I thought he'd be retiring

Not sure where he'll go, he seems pretty heavily involved in the family farm/businesses in Cumbria - maybe one of the northern Championship sides?
Been doing some coaching this season so could be a good pickup as a player coach/mentor kinda role, don't think his body can handle full top flight rugby anymore

Apparently we've got three retirements that are being announced at the game on Friday, my guess is Beaumont, Harrison and Taylor
If it's Cumbria then maybe to us? Came through Under SD and may fit as a 'trusted player' type. And with covering 13/15 would fit in with losing Redshaw and possibly Doherty

Sam Gilbert ---> Highlanders
i think you mean Sam Gilbert FROM the Highlanders TO Connacht

we'll be interested in where he plays, been a real mr fix it, playing everywhere outside 9 but if im honest the moving around has probably meant he didn't excel anywhere, a real jack of all master of none

Quite a few announced by Gloucester, not sure we've got enough Gloucester posters to get them out on here but from a saints fan with a soft spot for those farmers:

Josh Basham from blue sharks in japan
Mike Austin from Hartbury
Hugh Bokenham from pitates

You're welcome.

@munstermuffin

Is Cronin heading back to your way?
Highfield RFC announced him as head coach, I don't know the level in which they play at. Can he manage it with Tigers or will he have to move to Ireland

They're AIL 1B so the second tier of Irish club rugby. Actually fairly impressive he got the gig with I presume little to no coaching experience! I don't think he could do the job from England to be honest. Could see him finishing up here and doing a year or just retiring.

On that note Munster saying goodbye to some players:

Munster Rugby can confirm that senior players Scott Buckley, Billy Burns, Patrick Campbell, Liam Coombes, Jack Daly and Cian Hurley will depart the province at the end of the season

I had high hopes for Coombes and Pa Campbell, but both unlucky with injury. Hurley had good profile too but again couldn't stay fit. Daly not a bad player, but he was never going to get ahead of the logjam.

Campbell likely headed to Glasgow. The others I'm not sure, think it's already known where Burns is off to but I can't remember

Northampton Saints today confirm that Jake Garside, Charlie Savala, Callum Hunter-Hill, Ewan Baker, Nathan Langdon, Toby Cousins, Beltus Nonleh, Tom Dye, Louis Haley, Henry Nanka-Bruce and Kieran Perkins will leave the Club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

Assume that means we will be looking for a new lock or two and maybe some backs depending on our academy intake.

Surprised you're letting Toby Cousins go; he's quite highly touted isn't he? Guess you're not exactly weak in the back three though.

He's always looked good when I've seen him play as well. Maybe he's leaving for a proper shot at a first 23 shot not behind such amazing back three players.

Will be a good pick up for someone.

Extremely long departure list for Quins. Hammond I'm quite annoyed at tbh.

  • Lennox Anyanwu
  • Caleb Ashworth
  • Danny Care
  • Charlie Clare
  • Lewis Gjaltema
  • Tom Golder
  • Leigh Halfpenny
  • George Hammond
  • George Head
  • Irne Herbst
  • Wyn Jones
  • Will Joseph
  • Nathan Jibulu
  • Dino Lamb
  • Dillon Lewis
  • Will Trenholm
  • Archie White
  • Roma Zheng

More names there than I expected to recognise, usually when it's a long list there's a bunch of academy players being released too
