Howdy, I don't know how many of you got a widescreen monitor at home but I do and I've been running my past rugby games on 1920x1200 thanks to the EA Sports Rugby 2005 Resolution Changer. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the latest Rugby 08 and it's annoying playing on 1600x1200 on the 24" screen so I found a way to change the resolution. For this example, I've set my current profile to 1600x1200.
1. You'll need a hex editor, such as this one. http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/free...xvi32/xvi32.htm
2. Backup your profile under EA SPORTSâ"¢ Rugby 08 folder located in your My documents folder.
3. Use the hex editor to open up a profile you would like to edit and you will see a table full of hex numbers
4. Use the search function to find the follow hex pattern 40 06 B0 04 (1600x1200). The first two bytes are your horizontal resolution and the second two bytes are your vertical resolution. Change it to your desired resolution (please make sure you don't change anything else or it might stuff your profile up!) for example,
1920x1200 would be this:
80 07 B0 04
1680x1050 would be this:
90 06 1A 04
1440x900 would be this:
A0 05 84 03
5. Save it and run the game with the edited profile and enjoy!
After the change, I found the game is more pleasent to look at and @ 1920x1200, it's very playable with my AMD 2600XP, 9800pro setup so I don't need to upgrade my computer for another year! (I don't play any other games apart from Rugby)
I hope it'll work on your PC as well. have fun.
