No real surprises in there, I don't think - maybe Capstick? just because of the strength of depth at 7 (though a 7 who can cover lock probably helps). He was very very good on the weekend


Edit: Actually, bit surprised at IFW being there - no rugby in how long? Guess it's a good opportunity for the England physios to poke and prod him, though

i thought Woodward from Tigers would have been in but good to see Seb Atkinson there. And your lad Massai White showing up well at the moment

Yeah, Woodward's been very good this season and Atkinson's gone off the boil a bit recently

I'm not sure if Steward did go to 12, with Shilcock and Pollard on the pitch at the same time you'd imagine Pollard just goes there, he's done it before

He's only just back from knee injury. He's done well for Saracens when I've seen him so could be more to do with the injury than with form.

But if they have Roebuck and Freeman as the larger style winger, and they already have Roebuck in the squad do they need OHC or do they look at a young speedster for the future. I do think OHC has played very well this season and should be in the squad to be fair.

I'd imagine that players more likely to be available for the XV game won any close calls - Tigers likely to make the final and Sarries might miss the playoffs entirely means Elliot can play vs France and OHC can't

Can't get too excited by an initial training squad with a shedload of unavailables. But….

Astonishing that Radwan can't even make the cut here.

Couple of names in there who I wouldn't have down as remotely potential international class. But don't really care as they'll drop away once others are back.

No problem with IFW being named for this, but he's a nailed on starter when fit and hasn't played in months. I'd actually much rather he stays at home so he can be at 110% and totally fresh for next season. Won't happen, obvs. But there's been some disagreement over his shoulder and if that isn't as good as possible there's only downside.

Would like to see all those props tour, although Arg is a feeble shadow of the scrummaging unit it used to be.

There must be something Borthwick has seen about OHC off-field that he doesn't like. He picked him for those 2 six nations game, OHC barely got a touch of the ball, and then he was never picked again. I hope its not the fingernails.
