By the looks of it they're going to persevere with Foden on the wing and pick either goode or brown at 15. Daft IMO, but hey-ho.

I don't know... Apart from May, Sharples and Armitage at this moment in time i don't think you have any wingers who are up to it at international level.

Strettle and Monye are average and you need to find new guys. Wade made silly defence errors against the SA barbarians, which would be greatly exposed at international level.

agreed- wade is not ready yet as his defence is quite weak at the moment

Fair point actually. Sharples couldn't play in SA because of injury, May is a natural winger but hasn't played there much yet, Wade is a glass cannon and would be exposed at the highest level, Strettle and Monye are probably no better than Foden on the wing, Lowe looked very impressive on the wing and then got injured. What about Benjamin though? No doubt, half a season at Welford Road will put him in the English setup, but maybe he could have been brought in and used in SA.

Benjamin looked good for the Saxons last season as well - could see him making the cut for either Saxons or EPS by the time the Six Nations come round, especially (as you said) as he'll be playing for Tigers.

I don't think anyone's said this, but I reckon that there's no real meaning to this squad announcement. There was no build up to it, no big interviews about the selections, and the next international fixture is still in 4 months. When the AIs come around, Lancaster will pick another squad from the EPS and Saxons judged on the start of season form. (And Haskell will probably be in it.)

If this is the case, the main gripe I have is: what on earth does Nick Wood have to do to get anywhere near England!? He was the only prop to be nominated for player of the year last season, but he doesn't even make the Saxons? It might be said that he's quite old, but he's still younger (and a lot better) than Matt Stevens.

Rumours has it he's got a bad case of Glawsitis, a disease that did for James Simpson-Daniel too.

i agree Goode seems a good player and has advantage of being a better footballer then Brown. He also seems to "read" a game better and has very good awareness. Something we could do with at international level.
