I reckon

1 Henry
2 Ronaldinho
3 Deco
...
6 Lampard

Young player of year

1 Rooney
2 Kaka
3 C.Ronaldo

Wayne Rooney, just because he's English and not a completely stereotypical pussy footballer unlike most of the others.

Rooney doesn't deserve to win, most likely Ronaldinho or Henry.
Why doesn't he deserve to win?

I think either Henry or Ronaldinho both currently at top form ad probably the best two players in the world.

I don't believe Deco should win. After playing well for Porto he dissappionted in Euro 2004 and hasnt exactly set La Liga alight.

Rooney for young player closely followed by Kaka.

Will be Milner next year though

I reckon Henry will get it he is in really good form

It'll be a close one but it's unbelieveable some of the names not on the list, Maniche, Carvalho, Totti.

All will be in the running for European Footballer of the Year.

henry, ronaldinho, players both in great form both guys score goals of such brilliance on a regular occasion, frankly it would be a joke if anyone else got it

If only the poor lad was ever fit.

I think Adriano might be making a late run for it.

late run? i thought it was player of the YEAR not player of a couple of months of the year

He was good last season.

He's been ASTOUNDING this season.

Henry in running for Fifa award

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/3717770.stm

Thierry Henry is one of three finalists for Fifa's World Player of Year award.
Apart from the Arsenal striker the other two finalists are also forwards - Barcelona's Ronaldinho and AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko.

None of the three players have won the award before, although Henry was runner-up in last year's competition, which was won by Zinedine Zidane.

The winner will be named on 20 December at Fifa's World Player Gala, which will be held at Zurich's Opera house.

The three shortlisted candidates for the women's award are Mia Hamm of the United States, Germany's Birgit Prinz and Brazilian youngster Marta.

Hamm, who recently retired - is looking to regain the women's award which she lost last year to striker Prinz.

Fifa has changed the panel of voters for this year's awards.

Male and female captains of every national team will be able to vote, as well as their coaches and Fipro, the global organization for professional soccer players.

My shortlist would be...
Ronaldinho (Brazil) (Barca)
Thierry Henry (France) (Arsenal)
Andrej Shevchenko (Ukraine) (AC Milan)
Pavel Nedved (Czech Rep) (Juve)
Raul (Spain) (R Madrid)

Taking into account both the domestic Season and Euro04 id put these guys through.
Raul is only in there because for some bloody reason this award just seems to be Real's player of the year award.

I don't follow Football as well as Rugby but from what I've seen these last 5 years Thierry Henry has allways been among the three best players. I am impressed that he can keep playing so well for so long.

I don't mean he should get the player of the year ***le but he's definitively not ****... Or our shits do not smell the same...
