I’m an Arsenal fan but I genuinely don’t get the praise that they’re getting from a lot of our fans regarding that performance. 25% possession in a Champions League final over 120 minutes is embarrassing. It would have been an absolute robbery had we won the shootout - bar the goal, we offered **** all. PSG weren’t brilliant on the night, but they were the only team trying to win it before penalties. I saw a stat after the game - Arsenal had more of the ball in 2006 against Barcelona despite having to play the last 75 minutes with 10 men!!. That is an utter disgrace.

PSG are an excellent side and deserved winners, but they’re not 2010 Spain - and that what Arsenal’s approach made them look like. You wait 20 years to get to another final only to lose on penalties despite playing for them for 120 minutes. Such a waste of time - and save me all this “heartbreaking, cruel, unlucky” nonsense. You reap what you sow sometimes - just because he stumbled over the line in one of the poorest Premier League seasons in years doesn’t mean he’s a great manager.

He doesn't seem like a bad coach, but he hasn't really had any top-level experience.... it seems to me like a Ruben Amorim pick...

I didn't think Arsenal were that bad. They were strong defensively. They just were clearly happy giving PSG the ball and letting them fiddle around with it, and stopping them before they got a chance on goal. Although I will admit their attack was ****. We're very lucky to score, kepper probably should have done better. Not sure who that Safonov dude in goal is, but he was pretty **** imo

Iraola is a top coach imo. Done an incredible job with Bournemouth. You could be right in that it might be too big of a job for him or maybe too soon (or both) but his Bournemouth team play good football which makes me think he can make the jump up.

Iraola has a few years of prem experience under his belt though. He knows how the prem is. That can’t be understated imo.

True, any manager or player comes with a risk. Nothing is guaranteed but that’s why I referenced his style of football being a key factor as to why I think he’d actually be pretty good at Liverpool.

Moyes and Potter (Potter to a lesser extent) both played pretty pragmatic, bland football. I think those type of managers struggle more when they make a step up to bigger clubs. Anorim and Thomas Frank are other good, recent examples as well. Both pretty risk averse managers, both making a step or 2 up and both failing miserably. When o think of managers who have made the step up and been successful I think of Klopp and Pochetino who both already played good football and did well when they made the step up to a bigger club.

Needless to say other factors play a part as well.

Yeah always believed great players don't tend to make great managers. Gerrard, Rooney, Zola etc.

I don't follow soccer enough to follow the 'smaller' clubs, so I haven't been following Bournemouth, but getting them to where they are is pretty impresive i do agree

No one knew who he was, he had less than 5k followers on instagram, played in a nz club and well, he thought he could use a hand. So he told everyone, and i mean, everyone to start commenting, replying, liking, sharing, etc everything and anything about Tim Payne. And people took it seriously. In 2-3 days he went from 4 thousand followers to 4,5 million. People, from unknowns to pretty popular people were making videos about exchanging his panini for Messi's plus a few others (jokingly i presume), they NZ footie social media team jumped in too and made a few videos.
Oddly enough, this happened just before NZ played Haiti, so quite a few were actually watching the game.
