Good wingers in rugby

Shane Williams. He is coming to the end of his international career now but there are two players that have great potential to follow in his footsteps. They are: George North (currently injured) and Leigh Halfpenny (also injured). I can't really speak for the other nations but I was impressed by Ashton in his last game for England.

Jonah Lomu = Unbeatable bet winger to have ever lived
Chris Ashton looking very promising
Shane Williams is amazing
George North scored two in his debut against the boks when he was 17-18 :)

I think these are the best wingers around at the moment:

Habana, Ashton, Shane Williams, Gear (NZ), Rokocoko, Tommy Bowe, O'Connor, Rougerie (plays centre too)

This thread is so stupid. People are just listing wingers they like. It seems people now well and truely don't care.

Habana
Sivivatu
Gear
Jane
Rokocoko
Mitchell
O'Connor
Ashton
Clerc
Heymans
Bowe
Williams

Although I'm tempted to move Jane out of the list and into the fullback bracket, wing is where he has played and shown for the ABs. Same with O'Connor; he has played in every bloody position for the Force and at times for teh Aussis but he seems settled on the wing for thw Wallabies with Beale being the incumbent fullback.

It seems that over the last few years South Africa and Australia have been opting for fullback/wingers or center/wingers... with Habana being the exception, although lately he hasn't been very "world class" but NZ seems to have at least one specialist winger starting each match, I'm not sure what to consider Cory Jane anymore... He's a world class winger but he's a fullback.

Sivivatu, Gear and Rokococo are the best three 'specialist' wingers in NZ

That seems like an odd statement to me because NZ has played Cory Jane on the wing (who plays at 15 for the Hurricanes) while the only possible player who would fit into this bracket for SA would be Gio Aplon... who plays his club rugby on the wing for the Stormers (2010 behind Joe Pietersen in S14 and 2010 CC and 2011 Super rugby behind Conrad Jantjes) so I'd call him a winger first that could cover 15 at a pinch. I'd say you put your foot in your mouth as NZ is the country which tends to field 15s on the wing. I could mention Dagg and Toeava as other candidates. Aus is probably right though with O'Connor/Iaone/AAC

All Players are from the 2011 super 15 competition

Digby Ioane, Rodney Davies, Drew Mitchell, Lachie Turner, Pat McCabe.

If they're unable to impress enough to play at for their country let alone Super 15 how can they be recognised as "world class"?

I like Rokocoko, yeah he scores tries, steps here and there, tackles etc just like every other good winger, but watch him in the rucks. Unlike many other wingers here in NZ he ain't afraid to do the dirty work, he cleans forwards out like crazy. Ain't no ball like a quick ball. Would have him on my team anyday.

And this is from a Hurricanes fan lol

Yeah, Roc's has a very high workrate these days, Kade Poki is another winger worth mentioning. He's showing some great skill and form in the Super Rugby

Shane Williams
Tommy Bowe
Chris Ashton
James O'Connor
Bryan Habana
Joe Rocokoko
Vincent Clerc
Mark Cueto
Hosea Gear
Aurelien Rougerie
Leigh Halfpenny
Luke Fitzgerald
