Heyneke Meyer announces first Bok training group for 2013

No numbnuts!! I'm saying that HM picked guys who can do more than just pilfer. Ebersohn can score tries, has pace and is creative in attack. Coenie can scrum, and bulldoze the opposition. Bismarck can scrum, run with the ball tackle players back, throw in the lineout etc.

What I'm saying is HM is going to pick guys that can do more than just one thing, he's looking for guys that have variety, **** even Morne Steyn has shown a bit more variety this year!

To be fair - Heinrich Brussow is also high on the tackle count as well as turnovers - while he hasn't been starting week in and week out. I tend to agree having a guy who is a specialist pilferer is very important. Pocock doesn't do much other than pilfer - yet on form he's extremely effective, I sometimes feel with teams like the Boks and England - that they prefer a smith of all trades approach and a master of none. Heinrich Brussow is probably the South African I least like the All Blacks facing - in part because he's beaten them 4 times and lost 0.

Yeah that's true Nick. But Brussouw is not on form, and even he admtted it. He knows what is expected of him, and where he has to improve. So the onus is on him to show the coach that he has improved. Until then, he won't be considered. So we can go back and forth with this debate, but there really shouldn't be one, as the articles mentioned has a clear message: shape up or don't get selected.

Yes Brussouw is a specialist fetcher, but so is Francois Louw. For us to go and speculate who will be in the team come the Rugby Championship is very premature. Our test series vs Italy, Scotland and Samoa is a great time for HM to get some more guys into the setup, and to prepare them for test rugby.

Who knows, by the time the RC starts maybe Brussouw and Flouw could be our starting flankers together.

Last year Brussow couldnt make it cause he was too small, this year he cant make it cause "he gives away a lot of penalties". HM is a bigger joke than PDV! There are a lot of players in that squad who will make the Test series but still have a lot to work on themselves.

In fact there are even players there who arent on form but made the training squad!! Kankowski for one cant even get in to the Sharks 22(He hasnt been on form in some years now too) and he is there, Houggard hasnt been on form either, Arno Botha is a bench player for the Bulls, PSDT really hasnt done anything wow too for The Sharks this season, i think people are just raving on about him based on last years Junior World Cup, same would go for Jan Serfontein, Elton Jantjies has also been average for The Stromers, Lionel Mapoe not even starting for the bulls too.

Its just frustrating to see a quality player who has done so much for the Springbok Jersey just being ignored like that! Remember Brussow against The All Blacks in PE 2011, he hadnt played in a while and people didnt really think he was on form, He went and had a helluva game with his face half open! He is the only player i reckon, who gives a 100% when he dons that Bok Jersey ALWAYS!!!

What is HM expecting from him? For him to just turn into incredible Hulk and steal every ball at every ruck and concede 0 penalties???

No that is what you are expecting.

As for the Bulls squad, they use a rotation policy, which has worked very well and has prevented many injuries. Arno might not start every game, but he does play and he performs.

As for Hougaard, he has been injured for a long time and last week was his first game back, how can you hold that against him. As for Kankowski, he's a number 8 and with Vermeulen out injured, HM needs a back up number 8 in case his starting players gets injured. Mapoe is there in place of JP Pietersen who is also injured.

So there is not much validity in your claims. As for Brussouw, lets wait and see what happens. I will remain positive unlike you. I look forward to what HM has in store and what he's going to do with the Boks.
