OK so I am 25 and have not played rugby since I left school (10 years ago). I know the rules of the game but was wondering if it is possible to join a local rugby team, or if it is to late and I would just be laughed off. Any advice would be a help. Many thanks

Not at all!
As above, find a local club and speak to them about it - most have a 2nds/3rd/4ths (depending how big they are) and accommodate for any level, from beginner up to "I would have gone pro if I hadn't got that knee injury when I was 18" :p

You can buddy! YOU CAN!!!

Just looking for a small team, in a league of low level and you can learn and play.

C'mon!!!

Go down and train with them for a little while, get to know the boys, get back the feel for the game. the coaches will know which grade to play you in and when you are ready to step up to a higher grade.

Short answer:

Yes

Long answer:

Only providing you're willing to get really drunk after your first game and go for a number 2 in the clubhouse bins.

lol @ Peat's long answer.

But i agree, i started playing at 24 (2 yeas ago) without any previous experience, so you'll be fine.

Go for it mate! I did that exact thing about 4 years ago, hadn't played for 10 years since I had been at school. I was overweight and really unfit at the start but by the end of the first season I had turned things around and ended up playing most of the season at flanker or no.8 (at school I was a prop). A lot of clubs should have development teams eg next team down from the top team and so on.. and this is where you should start. Go along to a club or two and check it out. Personally it was the best thing ive ever done, made some great friends, got fit and learnt a lot about myself!
