Hi guys (and gals)

I am a practising Sports Journalist and to expand my "talents" and to have something to put on my CV I am in the process of building my own website dedicated to rugby and written articles on rugby.

http://worldofrugby.webs.com/ I'm still making it, hence the lack of much on the site.

To help the site I was wondering if any of you nice peeps would like to write an article or two about anything you feel.

eg;
The Tri Nations
The Harlequins Ban
The Bath Drugs Saga

or whatever you feel like.

If you are interested let me know here or send me an email at

[email protected]

All articles will be credited to the author.

Ta very muchly.

Iain

That is such a good CV idea. Genius.

Unfortunately my writing style remains only in the realm of anthropomorphic-parody so I cannot help. Though you never know. Someday I'll have a masterstroke and contribute that.

Ah yes it seems the time is right for the annual governing body versus the players bosses argument within Welsh Rugby.

The RRW (basically the governing body of the players who play for the 4 regions) have taken their bosses (WRU) to court over the arrangement of the Wales vs New Zealand game on November 7th.

The other autumn internationals that Wales play all fall into the recognised IRB international match window, of which the New Zealand doesn't and technically, as the RRW argues, the release of the international players is not a legal requirement.

The reason why the RRW have reacted this way is that during theweekend of 6, 7 and 8th of November are scheduled opening Anglo-Welsh Cup gamesand the Regions argue that the clubs are going to need their players for those fixtures. Which, if they hold ambitions of winning it they will need them. Except the Dragons for two reasons, a- They know they won't win it and will focus on the Magners League and b- They don't have any Wales Internationals anyway.

And now all Newport hates me.

This has happened before, in 2008 new Coach Warren Gatland wanted hisplayers allowed to train as a squad before the South Africa match. The regions wanted the players to stay with them for crucial matches. In the end the WRU won after Judge Havelock Allen QC recognised "the Test match is the most important factor, not the politics." So don't expect a different outcome this timeafter that ruling.

As I've mentioned this stand-off happens all too frequently and I'ms ure Welsh fans are bored of it, there are 3 solutions to this as I see it.

IRB should widen their International windows to prevent this happening. Of course then the regions would complain that "their" players are missing too many games for their teams.

The WRU could stop arranging games at a time when they know full wellthey, technically and potentially, won't get the players released; it's almost as if they want an argument with the RRW.

Or the clubs and governing body let the players decide. Do you want toplay for your country or play for your club? The choice may not be as obviousas it seems (although it should be).

All this will be sorted out in September, when, in all likeliness, they'll find something else to argue about.[/b]

An update.

I've been very busy recentley and have been unable to add more stuff to the site.

In addition the whole "I'm a Sports Journalism student". Nope, not any more. Was taken off my course for failing a Sport and Society module (irrelevant imo). I'm now just a regular Journalism student.

I'd like to keep the site up but I do need help in the number of articles on it.

Thanks,

Iain

The site has now done a death, lack of intrest from others, no time etc.

However I had a thought that I could change it into a chat room style site for us to chat on freely as opposed to specific postings.

Any thoughts?
