How much will this movie raise rugby's global profile?[/b]

I hope a **** load.

I really can't wait to watch this movie. And it's a proper hollywood movie so it'll be worldwide coverage for rugby. The only other Rugby Union movie i've seen was so bad that they called the position Hooker, 'Hook'.

Eastwood, Damon and Freeman; this could be huge for raising awareness of rugby in the US. Looks epic.

Yeah it seem this movie will show how great rugby really is and that it brings people of all class and social divisions together :)

Just found out my club has reserved a theater for the premier. Should be a good night.
The trailer is on TV here all the time. It's getting a big christmas season push. Loads of people that know I play rugby have emailed me or text'd me about it. So, it should expose a good amount of people to rugby and paint it in a good image (help us get away from the alcohalic image we currently have).

IMDB has 8.7... That's unthinkably high a rating!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1057500/[/b]

Niccceee. I read on Todd Clever's blog that he saw a screening of it and that it is very good stuff. Said it was very accurate with alot of focus on the rugby action itself (which I was worried about; wouldn't put it past Hollywood to overplay the racial side of the story).

I hope they highlight Ireland's dominance in the tournament. I bet they won't even mention the mysterious assassination of 7 of our starting 15 after the group stages. That'd be typical!

I have a feeling this is going to disappoint, I don't know why and I don't want this feeling but I just think it will. Also Morgan Freeman made a documentary about the 95 Rugby World Cup that will be shown in prime time on ESPN (in America and yes that's actually ESPN not ESPN deportes or something silly). They are celebrating their 30th year with 30 documentaries about sports stories from the last 30 years (calling it 30 for 30). I think I'm more excited about that too be honest, if only to hear Morgan Freeman narrate it haha hey this man made penguins waddling around for 2 and a half hours interesting think what he can do for rugby!

Predictions for Friday in, Invictus opened in third place in North America with a disappointing $3 million. Just been checking a few U.S box office sites, and the amount of ignorance is mind blowing. The average Yank really has no idea about the rest of the World to be honest, they get the movies they deserve. I would expect the International result to blow the North American one out of the water in due course.

Not surprised, Americans tend to bury their heads in the sand when they hear it's about an international, rather than domestic sport.

Except for the fine American posters on this forums of course! :P

I saw it last night. It was good. It's definitely a feel-good movie. It highlights the triumph of Nelsa Mandela, and portrays him as near saint-like. The film has a very "we should all be united" feel to it as the RWC song "World In Union" is part of the score of the film.
My wife and I both enjoyed it, and so did all the people at the cinema, all but me non-ruggers.
The rugby action is okay. I expected it to be a bit more fluid, it had a choppy vibe as they were attempting to re-create near exact moments that we've all seen on the highlight videos.
Overall it's a well produced film and I'd recommend everyone go and see it.
It has a definite message for the Saffers who still are trying to get rid of the bokke and replace it with the protea.
2 thumbs up from me. Enjoyable.

it was a good movie and agree with O'Rothlain that the rugby stuff was a bit choppy but they did re-create the moments. but the fly half couldnt kick at least they used cg for it cause when he does he looks like hes challenged lol.

That goes without saying :o

Invictus has pretty much crashed and burned in North America :( Maybe they should have included sparkling vampires and emo chicks <_<

www.spill.com has an audio review up which I guess would probably sum up a lot of U.S opinion. The movie simply did not portray the game in an interesting light, and apparently there's no villian. Maybe they should have got Darth Vader to play Jonah Lomu ....

Hasn't opened in Oz yet, but will be there opening weekend .... maybe the Bokke misses this time round
