Fantastic, Ireland didn't win the game, but were the closest team to New Zealand in the last 3 years apparently.

Yeah, I saw the entire match but I missed the haka. Great match, and NZ scored their two trys during an Irish sin-binning and that was the difference in the end.

But the NZ commentators were giving out about the haka on and off throughout the match. And it was no big deal. Closing in on it. So what?

Nevin Spence, Brian O'Hara, Ian Madigan, and one of the props and Dave Kearney all looked like prospects. Andrew Burke was excellent when he came on the NZ commentators were in love with him. He worked well at centre.

They actually thought Ireland were class in general which was nice but they nevr shut up about how amazing NZ are.

Did anyone else actually see it?

Why? Is this the whole, "you must remain static and allow us to intimidate you?" with no right to reply debate again?

I thought the Irish were bang on there. Like the Tongans in Cymru's avatar and every other side that has thrown down a similar challenge.

Yup I watched it. Was waiting for the commentators to call it racist the way they were going on, ridiculous. I don't see why we should have to stand around and watch them do their little dance, it's a bad attitude to take into a game (showing an opponent that much respect). On the whole issue of the hake why is it that the All Blacks get to do the haka and we don't get to sing Amhran Na Bhfiann away from home?

The commentators were obviously idiots if they think that a Haka doesn't warrant being met with a reply.

I think it's fine, as long as the opposing team in question will give them a good game and not concede 50 or so points.

Is that the New Zealand number 10 or 11 taking the huff there at the end of his little dane? Is not quite clear from the pictures....

Don't get me wrong. The Haka's a cool thing and it's very entertaining to witness live, but it doesn't mean that any All Blacks team should have the divine right to perform it. Not least without being challanged.

Remember this one for example....

You obviously can't have people squaring up to each other before a game, it's a bit too aggressive. I think it was right for the officials to create a barrier but I think there should be a gentlemen's agreement that teams can't get too close in pre-match rituals.

Keep in mind this was an under 20's team which has more potential to blow up...you know what kids are like*.

*I'm only saying that because I am 21 today (y)

what with all the damn rugby videos on you tube being changed to rick rolls? same with rugbydump

It's a war dance, other teams should be allowed to challenge it.

Are you serious? Your about to spend the next 80 mins beating the living shite out of eachother and you expect anyone to honour a gentlemans agreement. ****** I say, go after em.

Theres nothing insulting about it. I'd say if anything it offers up more respect.

they only sing the soldiers song when they are in the republic, e.g. when they played in belfast they didnt sing it, but just sang irelands call, an there was a big argument that God save the queen should be played as it is northern ireland's national anthem

Yeah, we all know that. The point is, why can't they sing both at home and away if the Haka gets performed home and away.

Yeah, but these are kids remember...it could have easily turned into a pre-match brawl.

They're also professional rugby players, not the Frog & Fart vs the Railways Workers union. The resulting bans and loss of earning for scrapping is enough to make them remember where the line is drawn.

because, new zealand rugby team is made up of only one country unlike irelands

its also a war dance, not an athem, so you cant compare it to the soldiers song

i think ireland should only sing irelands call even at home

Aww. Are the ickle Kiwis getting precious about their haka again?

It's getting ridiculous now. I love the haka. I think it's brilliant but I still fail to see what makes NZ so special that everyone else has to stand by and watch.

Yarrr, now hat be answering the question.

The least they could do is find a decent song. I've done a mixture of cringing and laughing during the anthems for the Churchill Cup.
