Mark Boucher today broke Ian Healy`s record for most dismissals in test cricket by a wicketkeeper, in the 1st innings of the 1st test, Pakistan vs. SA, Karachi. After having taken a catch off right-arm quickie Dale Steyn shortly before the close of play on day 2 to move his career tally up to 394, he tied the Healy record of 395, and then broke it, with 2 very neat stumpings off left-arm spinner Paul Harris. Boucher currently stands on 396 dismissals in 103 tests, compared to Healy`s previous mark of 395 in 113 tests.
This adds another world record to a growing list for Boucher, having been the fastest to 50, 100 and 200 test dismissals, and sharing a world-record 9th wicket partnership of 190 runs with Pat Symcox in only his 3rd test match.
Pretty handy performance. Especially considering Bouch has grown some substantial lard over the last 2 seasons!
