Mark Boucher today broke Ian Healy`s record for most dismissals in test cricket by a wicketkeeper, in the 1st innings of the 1st test, Pakistan vs. SA, Karachi. After having taken a catch off right-arm quickie Dale Steyn shortly before the close of play on day 2 to move his career tally up to 394, he tied the Healy record of 395, and then broke it, with 2 very neat stumpings off left-arm spinner Paul Harris. Boucher currently stands on 396 dismissals in 103 tests, compared to Healy`s previous mark of 395 in 113 tests.

This adds another world record to a growing list for Boucher, having been the fastest to 50, 100 and 200 test dismissals, and sharing a world-record 9th wicket partnership of 190 runs with Pat Symcox in only his 3rd test match.

Pretty handy performance. Especially considering Bouch has grown some substantial lard over the last 2 seasons!

Thats pretty damn good!

How far away is Gilchrist? I'd reckon he'd at least be over the 300 mark by now...

Gilchrist`s on 381 dismissals, in 90 tests, made up out of 344 catches and 37 stumpings. So that`s only 15 behind the record, with Rod Marsh in 4th place, on 355 from 96 tests. They`re the only blokes over 300, Jeff Dujon is next in line with 270 in 81 tests.

Ahk top stuff. Thanx BokMagic. Hopefully Gilchrist will be able to surpass that. He still has a nitnernational season left in him, maybe even two.

Well it really depends on which one of them has the most test cricket left in the tank who`ll end up on top eventually. I reckon it`s gonna be a long time before we see anyone approaching those sort of figures again.

Very stoked that I`ve been able to see both masters through what has been a bit of a golden period for these 2 `keepers in an era where we have had so many stopper/batsmen as opposed to specialist `keepers. And here`s the interesting thing- even though both can definately be considered specialist `keepers as opposed to stoppers, both could`ve made their respective sides on batting ability alone. Talk about all-rounders hey!

Boucher is consistent with his keeping but Gilchrist surely has the upper hand with their world class bowlers.

there's no way gilly is gonna get the record but he's surely gonna past the 400 mark

GO BOUCHER. South Africa's still yet to win a world cup though. Maybe next time. At least we got the Web Ellis trophy for the next 4 years.

Yes, absolutely in no time mate. Boucher, Gilchrist and Healy only needed 90+ tests to get to those stats.

But I do really rate Read as a specialist `keeper. Pity that England have decided to go the batsman/stopper route, instead of giving their top gloveman more tests.

Gilly is a very good keeper, but I dont think he will get the record, he won't be playing for too much longer i dont think. They are both great keepers though, well done to the both of them for such great careers

another great keeper is kumar sanggakara
he is 1 of the best batsman at the moment and a great keeper
