And Wales had the chance to win it despite being down to 14 men. IIRC Halfpenny(?) missing a convertible penalty. Even more gut wrenching.

I think those are the ones that hurt most where your team or individual have it in their hands to win it but just don't or can't take the chance.
It was Priestland who missed the penalty. Halfpenny should have been kicking really, but Gatland hadn't yet realiaed he was a world class goal kicker, even though most supporters already had. Priestland was flaky from the tee at the time as well.

What made that worse was that the missed penalty literally went directly over one of the posts, I think. From one angle it looked good, from another it looked wide, so being biased it felt like an injustice from the ref. Or perhaps that was in the SA pool game, difficult to remember 11 years later.
