Neath RFC has been given one final chance to pay its tax debts or face being wound up at London's High Court.

The Principality Premiership side have until 21 May to settle the undisclosed debt to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
With the case against Neath Rugby club Ltd marked as final, any further application for an adjournment is unlikely.
If the club fails to pay, it could be wound up.
Neath are joint top of the Premiership with Aberavon

Neath are one of the original members of the WRU and as such it would be very sad to see that happen, BUT, they have not been a happy bunny living in Ospreylia, and have done very little of late for the region.
The Ospreys would miss having them in the second tier, but the truth is that without them they will be looking to attract a number of their fans over to the Liberty.
What will this mean to the Premiership and the WRU's plans?

Neath are nothing to do with the Ospreys and haven't been for about 3 years. They don't abide as part of Ospreylia and none of their players are available for Ospreys selection, so they wouldn't miss Neath that much.
All the same; NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't it something to to with Neefs idea that Swansea-based players got preferential treatment re selection etc.

Also wasn't the Ospreys refusal to use the Gnoll to do with it too?

Only what I've heard

Combination of a lot of things. Major issue was that the Ospreys were not paying Neath to use their regional players but were for Tonmawr, Bridgend and Swansea players.

Hawkes was also concerned that Cuddy was not giving Neath a fair go within the Ospreys set up.

Here we go: http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2009/291.html

So simple:

1. Hawkes (Neath) and Cuddy (Neath's rep at the Ospreys) had a row over Neath's representation at the Ospreys.
2. It went to court.
3. Court ruled Neath own 50% of the Ospreys and that Cuddy was their representative.
4. Relations soured further because Neath felt that Cuddy wasn't representing their interests.
5. Ospreys removed the three players allocated to Neath this season / last season and sent them to Tonmawr / Bridgend / Swansea.

The WRU should do everything they can to try and help them be saved the last thing we need is for a big team like Neath to fold and go under.
