New lions shirt

You get the odd newcomer to rugby who queries it; but no, it's never been an issue.

It's the B&I Lions shirt; not an amalgamation, and not trying to be an amalgamation. The Lions shirt has been red with white bits since 1888! (thanks LeChat)
You'll notice that it's not the same shade of red as Wales use - so it's not representing Wales in its colours either.

Equally, the England shirt doesn't contain Blue, Black, Cherry, Green, Gold etc to represent the clubs that make up the England team; Barbarians shirt doesn't contain... every colour under the sun, to represent every nation that's every been represented in the BaaBaa.s
Beg to differ about red since 1888

Apparently they played in a variety of colours up until 1950 (when they were playing in blue)

Because it was difficult to differentiate between blue and black against the ABs, they changed to red and have stayed that way ever since.

To anyone interested, the lions website is currently offering approx £15 off shirts

@AlRums sorry i missed your question

The Fingerprint is the logo theyve come up with the for the First Nations and Pasifika XV, cant find much info but it looks like the left hand side is a version of traditional aboriginal art style and the right version of art you might find through the pacific, im assuming the fingerprint represents "identity" of a sort, finger print is unique to a person like these cultures are unique and important to the players?

Found a much better resolution of it and can see the article referenced. I just don't understand the smartphone fingerprint logo unless they're trying to convey and "identity"

as i say, that was my assumption, fingerprints are unique, like this team and the cultures they represent

Well, I've just received my official jersey from lionsrugby

Got to say, I feel like I've been conned. Nothing on the shirt, lions badge, ccc or Howdens is embroidered. Everything is an iron on patch.

I would at least expect an embroidered lions badge.

Seriously considering sending it back. I expect better for £80
I'll buy one when it's £20 a few months after the tournament. Especially with it all being ironed on

Just get TRUMP printed on the back and offer it to Harry for a tonne. Tidy little profit.

This is what I got, the logo and CCC as you can see just looks very cheap. Chinese made from 100% polyester.

It's going back. I expect much better for the price. Trump would be proud.

The only shirt with embroidery seems to be the £110 test jersey and only the logo is embroidered the rest are "heat applied graphics" some thing they leave out of the descriptions of the other shirts.

I got better deals from a Bangkok street market for Scottish shirts.

The cheaper one has the proper badge but not all the other bits on it.

I bought mine from the official lions rugby store, that shirt (now further reduced to £67)

i followed the link you posted and you can see all the badges are applied rather than embroidered and where its made in the photos

The cheaper shirt and long sleeve option 100% have a proper embroidery logo. I've seen it in the shop and you can see it here.

I saw that one and went straight away from it because they didn't have my size.

I went for the "Replica" instead of the "classic", as far as it showed the difference was extra white piping on the sleeves. The replica shirt doesn't show a closeup of the logo and it never even occurred to me that the logo would be a stick on.

If the classic had my size it was first choice just because it was cheaper.

The only shirt which says "embroidered logo" in the description is the test jersey £110.

Out of interest I looked up all the home nations shirts and found they are all iron on logos apart from the Scotland shirt

I got the same shirt as you but just for the extra detail on the shirt and the white sleeve bits. I try and wash it at 30 and it doesn't go in the tumble dryer. Will see how long the badge lasts.

I've still got all my old lions shirts and still wear them probably more than my England ones.

FWIW I have England and Sale training shirts with printed on logos and both still look brand new after a year, and two years, respectively
They're Macron and Umbro, as well, so both traditionally poorer quality than Canterbury

Think stitched vs printed is more of an aesthetic than quality thing these days

It's more cost effective to use iron on logos if producing a large amount of shirts to sell.

Smaller nations sell less shirts so can do embroidered logos 🎣
