Understandable, but Eng A purpose is a bridge between youth and senior, so I wouldn't want more than a couple of older players in the 23.Searle should be involved in England A with Worsley

Same here. It entirely depends whether there is a player with the requisite potential or not. For example, I don’t think Charlie Atkinson is ever likely to be good enough to make the full squad in anything other than an injury crisis/Lions year. Neither is Searle, but if it comes down to who is the better player right now, he is very clearly ahead.I was fully on board with that when they announced it but it's just leading to players who aren't good enough being picked because Mapletoft likes them
I wouldn't be against them opening it out to older players who aren't capped (or have very few caps). Like Searle: Yes, Ewels: No
I still think it's a good thing.I was fully on board with that when they announced it but it's just leading to players who aren't good enough being picked because Mapletoft likes them
Valid, tbfBut the problem is Mapletoft (IMO)
Didn't see the game, but sounds like yet more inconsistency. I think Saints surely have to be favourites, they're playing aggressive and attractive rugby.
Saw this though and thought it a bit odd
