Premiership Rugby 21/22 - Rd 5

I knew it was bad but not that bad!

On the bright side, they haven't been beaten by a 54pt margin!

Worcester looked pretty competitive at the start of the season. I don't know why they've dropped off so badly in the last couple of games. They've obviously got a long way to go to be any more than a bottom 3 side, but I did think there were signs of improvement. Perhaps not …

It doesn't matter how bad they are/get , they will still be there next year.
Just think how interesting it could have been with a 3 way struggle for survival between Warriors .Bath and Bristol. (I jest, partially )

Grim Reaper walking for Hooper/Hatley. That was bad. Not sure how Bath fix it but the general consensus I've seen is Bath need to man up a little and toughen up.

Would a coach like Cheika/Diamond/Cockrell fix Bath? do Bath need to let a few big signings go and sell any players that may not make the cut.

In terms of Wasps, I am happy with the display , the boys really did put in a shift and make a good effort of it. Lot's of new lads coming in and lots of rotation but some of the lads really stepping up.

Our defence was gritty, we didn't fold after going 15-3 down and beat Exeter at their own game of driving mauls.

@Scotty , saw you were there, would be interested to know your opinion of the overall game/performance in more depth. Going to rewatch the game as was in Edinburgh (fan Girling over Bisemark/Jannis Du Plessis and Morne Steyn in Edinburgh Airport).

We travel to bath next and depending on injuries/call ups, i will be interested to see how we go.

Also RIP Sean Wainui and condolences to his young family, tough thing to hear.

Dimes being rumoured atm, but presumably just papers wanting to name a name and get people reading their articles

Not sure how well Dimes would do for a side that's not Sale - strikes me as the kind of "we're all in this together, this clubs in my blood it's in yours too" kind of coach

Also out of everyone's interest, with a little cheek putting Spink at 9 (he played there a few times), this is our injured XV.

15. Rob Miller; 14. Paolo Odogwu, 13. Malakai Fekitoa, 12. Ryan Mills, 11. Matteo Minozzi; 10. Charlie Atkinson, 9. Sam Spink; 1. Tom West, 2. Tom Cruse, 3. Alfie Barbeary, 4. Joe Launchbury, 5. Theo Vukasinovic, 6. James Gaskell, 7. Gabriel Oghre, 8. Jack Willis

I wouldn't say long term, i'd say to change this up and make Bath players realise it's not a happy clappy world in Prem rugby.

Still don't think it'd work out, tbh

You never, know, though - maybe they do need a shock to the system. Hooper palling around with his old team mates to Dimes reading them the riot act would certainly be a switch up.

The overriding impression i got while watching yesterday was exactly that. Bath, put bluntly ,were soft as s hite.

Exactly they need that instant impact and if not Dimes then something similar.

Bruce Craig apparently gives involved quite a bit which he shouldn't do.

I would argue how well Dimes really did with Sale?

Always had the easy excuse of oh we are not spending the money others are, but didn't really do much when he got it either.

Exactly.

Also as a pirates fan, hopefully Sirker is doing a good job down there but thank you for Frost. He's one hell a hooker and just doesn't seem to have any flaws in his game. Very much Tom Cruse esque in the schooling in the lower leagues and now getting his chance. FYI for everyone, Cruse went Sale - Macclesfield - Rotherham - Wasps.

TBF he was COVID game away from play offs but I do also see your point. I would say Sale have used their cash a lot better than Bath have.

Yeah, Dimes is very much a stop the rot, rather than grow something special kind of coach

He did very well for us when we were poor as **** and flirting with relegation - turned us from perennial bottom 2 to mid table and top six every other year, but that's very much his limit

Give him Bath till the end of the season and he'd get the players to put some pride in the shirt, and also get Cipriani firing (those two are, weirdly, good mates/work well together) and then find a long term guy in the summer

Per my first post, though, I think it's just journo talk - He's one of the only prem-level coaches that's currently un-attached

Warren Gatland to Bath.

Pls pls pls pls
Warren Gatland
Danny Cipriani

Would he even know how to talk to him?

Anyway, hasn't Gatland been safely promoted out of doing any harm?

I'd be happy with Diamond coming in short-term; Hatley demoted to Forwards only (again though, he ought to go, but finding coaches mid-season will be tough)
Hunt for a big name, experienced DoR / Head Coach who's not a complete busted flush (like Geech).
No salary cap on coaching staff, so throw money at a Smith or Joseph, or even a Chieka

Honestly IMO should go after Robbie Deans.

Chieka would be a good shout, don't see Joesph leaving Japan for a bit. (Also would petition a ban on Bath if they signed Joseph)

Nor do I, he's obviously got his sights firmly set on France'23; but you never know, it's gotta be worth waving a nice juicey cheque under his nose.

Strange atmosphere during the bath game, all the Bath fans were completely unsurprised at conceding the early scores, Bath just started so passively on the D, quite honestly one of the weirdest games I've attended.

Still surprised Hill wasn't penalised - he wasn't going for the ball he ran in specifically to push the guy. Players always get pinged for running in to a fracas
